PURPOSE This Method Statement describes the installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows activities that shall be undertaken for carrying out. This method statement is prepared to identify the work stages while carrying out the related works for the "Construction of Topside Works for Abu Dhabi maritime Projects” to ensure the works shall be carried out in compliance with relevant approved for construction drawings and project specifications. Furthermore, Orient House for Development & Const. Co. team in coordination with the safety team on site shall ensure that all safety rules and regulations are strictly adopted as set by the local authorities to comply with the Client to safely accomplish the desired task. 2. SCOPE This method statement describes the overall sequence of Aluminum Doors & Windows activities that shall be carried out during the construction of " Topside Works for Abu Dhabi maritime Projects” It also outlines the material used, machinery and equipment involved for ensuring the works are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant drawings and project specifications. 3. Shop Drawing Approval All relevant shop drawings approved from Engineer/Employer will be used as reference during the application. 6.4. Equipment & Tools Drilling Machine – 2 Nos. Tracking all contractual issues with Consultant/Client. Give technical support and guidance to the construction team on site. Ensure full coordination with the construction team and the safety on site to ensure that all risks and hazards are eliminated and control measures are in place to avoid any undesired accidents. Monitor the construction program on site to comply with the approved work schedule. 6.5.2 Safety Officer To ensure all safety signs are in place and in good working condition at all times. Make frequent and unscheduled inspections on site to ensure that control measures to reduce or eliminate hazards are effective and still in place while the structural steel fabrication & Installation for the Doors & Windows. Act upon and monitor the progress of the safety related activities based on each situation or/and the recommendations of the Project Manager or Engineer's/Client's Representative. To coordinate with all parties and to brief them from time to time on any related safety issues on site. To ensure that the preventive maintenance is carried out on daily basis. Carry out Tool Box Talks (TBT) for the labors in the presence of General Foreman to highlight safety matters prior to the commencement of the works. Ensure Plant/Equipment are equipped with reverse sound alarm system To carry out investigation, report to relevant parties and coordinate if there are any accident happened on site. 6.5.3 QA/QC Engineer Ensure that work shall be carried out according to the approved shop drawings, approved method statement and quality control procedure. Inspect the works prior to calling for Consultant inspection. Maintain completed inspection and test records for any future references. 6.5.4 Site Engineer Implement all approved method statements, health and safety procedures on site. Follow up the work and ensure that every activity is carried out according to the approved shop drawings and specifications Ensure that all materials, tools, equipment and manpower are sufficient enough to execute the work Page 6 of 11 Topside Works for Abu Dhabi Maritime Projects Ref. Rev. 00 Date Method Statement for Installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows 6.5.5 Coordinate with QA/QC Engineer for inspection of work activities all completed work. Surveyors To establish the main horizontal and vertical reference points, required levels, bench mark as indicated in the approved for construction drawings to avoid excess Installation for the Doors & Windows. the structural steel fabrication & Installation for the Doors & Windows are set out as per approved Shop Drawing. Surveyor should check all the levels throughout the project must be related as indicated in the approved for construction drawings. Make sure the survey records shall be jointly signed by Orient House for Development & Const. Co. site engineer in-charge and the Consultant/Engineer and copy of the approved record sheet shall be kept on file for future reference. 6.5.6 Foreman Execute the works as per the instruction given by the site engineer Carry out the works according to the approved shop drawings. Provide daily report to site engineer Make sure that safety is well practiced on site. Control site disposal of waste materials. 6.5.7 Operator Operator should check their equipment to make sure they are operational prior use. Clean, maintain and make basic repairs to equipment. Report malfunctioning equipment to foreman. Ensure that safety standards are met. 6.5.8 Skilled Laborers Execute the works as per the Foreman's instructions. 7. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS For Orient House for Development & Const. Co, Safety is always paramount on all its projects. All staff involved in the project shall be inducted on the safety, health and environmental issues associated with the work. Only trained personnel with relevant experience shall be allowed to handle machinery. Page 7 of 11 Topside Works for Abu Dhabi Maritime Projects Ref. Rev. 00 Date Method Statement for Installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows Appropriate Safety Signboards, barriers and lighting and other safeguards shall be provided as required by the nature of and location of the works. All operations shall be carried out in accordance with the safety requirements. All field personnel will use PPE safety requirements like safety shoes, helmets, cover all, dust mask, etc. ad required. Before starting the works, multi lingual sign boards shall be posted in the vicinity of the working area to warn laborers to take all precautionary measures on site. All personnel who shall be involved in the Installation for the Doors & Windows shall be given adequate training sessions on how to use the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. protective clothing, helmet, gloves, safety shoes, and goggles) at all times. Tool Box Talk (TBT) shall be given on a daily basis to the workforce who shall be involved in the above mentioned works. This TBT shall include both General and Specific precautionary measures which must be adhered to during the works. All Plant and Equipment that shall be used in construction works shall be certified by Third Party prior to being used to ensure that they are fit for purpose. All Plant and Equipment shall be operated by competent operators who hold valid operative certificate. Coolers for potable water shall be available in sufficient number to ensure the abundance of water at all times. The safety of the works shall be closely monitored by Orient House for Development & Const. Co. HSE Officers and site construction team. 8. DETAILED CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE (METHODOLOGY) 8.1 Planning of Work Activities Orient House for Development & Const. Co. shall ensure that prior to starting any work, a Permit to Work (PTW) and/or No Objection Certificate (NOC) is granted to Orient House for Development & Const. Co. construction team from the relevant authorities in order to safely proceed with the works. Approved method statement and risk assessment shall be made available at the workplace and communicated to all team members who shall be involved in the works. Prior to the commencement of the works, a Task Risk Assessment (TRA) shall be prepared by a competent person to address all hazards and to put down the necessary control measures to eliminate or reduce any unanticipated hazard pertinent to the work activities. Construction team shall install all necessary hazards warning signage and demarcation in the worksite. Issue to the Engineer the Work Notification 24 hour in advance prior to start any activity. Obtain engineers approval for the Installation of Doors & Windows Activities. Mobilize all required equipment, tools and manpower. Page 8 of 11 Topside Works for Abu Dhabi Maritime Projects Ref. Rev. 00 Date Method Statement for Installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows The surveyor shall set out the targeted area, staked and clearly marked whether a cut or fill is required according to the profile provided in the issued for construction drawings. 8.1.1 Survey and Setting Out 8.2 Joint site survey and setting out will be conducted by the Contractor and Engineer’s representative to verify location for the Installation of Doors & Windows activities as per approved shop drawings. Approved Method statement for Surveying and Setting out will be used as reference in setting out works. Joint survey data will be provided to the Engineer if required. Procedure for fabrication and Installation for the Doors & Windows. 8.2.1 General All the related documents such as shop drawings, method statements, material approvals, subcontractor's approvals, test certificates, etc. must be available upon request. Prior to start of installation, Task risk assessment is to be prepared. Once the TRA is completed the necessary work permits shall be raised and toolbox talk is initiated. The toolbox talk shall designate areas of responsibility and ensure that all personnel involved are familiar with the scope of work, know the responsibilities and risks involved. The document shall cover the relevant areas of Abu Dhabi Port. Majority of fabrication / welding works shall be executed in Dar Al Yousif Metalic Const. Ind. LLC work shop at ICAD-2. All the equipment and accessories shall be thoroughly inspection prior to commencement of work. 8.2.2 Receipts, inspection and Storage Material. Upon the receipt, all materials will be kept under proper storage. All incoming materials will be subjected to inspection and approval from Consultant . Rrecords will be maintained for the same. Only upon approval of materials, fabrication will be started. Transfer and storage of structural materials shall be performed in a manner, which will not be detrimental to the material characteristics. Lifting of material during the transfer, installation or fabrication shall be in such a manner as to prevent damage to material surface. 8.2.3 Fabrication The fabrication will be carried out at subcontractor workshop. Page 9 of 11 Topside Works for Abu Dhabi Maritime Projects Ref. Rev. 00 Date Method Statement for Installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows The fabrication shop will be fully equipped for fabrication. Fabrication shop will include all the Necessary hand tools, welding equipment, work benches, stands and handling equipment. Daily status report shall be prepared for the evaluation of welding and welding performance. 8.2.3.1 Preparation: Bevel end and straight edges on Pipe shall be prepared by means of thermal cutting and grinding to provide a reasonable smooth true weld surface. 8.2.3.2 Cleaning Requirements: Bevel end and straight end edges shall be cleaned properly and slag produced by cutting will be chipped and ground off the surface. Paints, dirt, grease and foreign matter will be removed by grinding prior to any welding from machined bevel edges on Railings. Welding slag and spatters shall be removed by chipping, grinding etc, after each weld pass. Welding shall be exclusively done by using proper welding consumables. 8.2.3.3 Fit-Up and Alignment: Fit ups shall be prepared by tack welding. Qualified welders will carry out tack welding. Misalignment between prepared joints will not exceed the requirements. Proper locking systems / supports will be used whenever required for alignment and holding during welding operations to prevent distortion and twisting. Temporary welding attachments will be used wherever required for fit ups. Temporary attachments and weld metal shall be compatible with parent material. 8.2.3.4 Welding: After welding is completed welding spatters will be removed by chipping and wire brushed. Also dirt, rust and slag shall be removed to provide a clean weld bead for inspection. All temporary supports will be ground off level with the parent surface. After removal of temporary welded attachments of all materials, the weld area shall be dressed. Repair of weld will be carried out as per the approved procedures. Weld bead and surrounding area will be dressed or ground as required to give the correct contour for proper evaluation of the weld quality by QC Engineer. 8.2.4 Inspection: Page 10 of 11 Topside Works for Abu Dhabi Maritime Projects Ref. Rev. 00 Date Method Statement for Installation of Aluminum Doors & Windows All fabricated Parts will be subject to visual inspection. All weld joints shall be subject to 100% visual. Material verification and dimensional checks throughout the fabrication and at completion to check welding from a visual aspect shall be carried out to ensure that fabrication is in accordance with the drawings. All inspection activities shall be according to the approved Inspection and Test plan. 8.2.5 Marking and Packing: Proper identification marks shall be provided on the pre-fabricated parts for each size. Finished items shall be packed in order to prevent any damage of the paint during the transportation and handling. 8.2.6 Delivery material on site: Delivery the materials to site. Safety Induction for the personnel involved in the site activities. 8.2.7 Installation Procedure: Obtain Orient House for Development & Const. Co. approvals and PTW for the Installation works. Carry out the site survey with Consultant. Start Aluminum Doors & Windows. Place Doors & windows in right position and fixed with anchors. Check level and position of post. 9.
