Drama and Electioneering
Electioneering entails active and energetic participation in a
campaign to be elected to public office. During electioneering
season, posters are printed, musicians are hired to release
partisan songs, campaign grounds are rented etc.
Politics generally observed with the presence of strife and
antagonism. Each opposition party trying to outdo the other,
there is visible character assassination.
Just like drama, there is the presence of two opposing parties in
election processes as both candidates are seen in the conflict.
Each candidate aiming to be the winner.
Also, candidates appear in public during campaigns regularly,
goes to places like the market, schools etc just to rally for votes,
and they put on the campaign T-shirts and face caps, this can
be related to to the traditional appearances of the
masquerades for festivals and the masquerade is said to be a
human that had wore the costume which transcends them from
the realm of humans into that of their ancestors.
In drama, the casts carry out the attitude of the characters
which is not their characters in real life. So also, candidates put
up an attitude that is rarely related to how they behave in real
life. They believe friendlier and more accommodating. Thus, it
is certain that electioneering can be said to be Drama.
