Question 1:
Chemical Reactions
Question 1:
Chemical Reactions
Question 1 MS
Notes for Chemical Reaction Questions
Questions about chemical reactions in Paper 6 are not that complicated, and will need prior knowledge of:
Some tests for certain
chemicals (not always)
Lab Apparatus
Rates of Reaction: How
to find them, What
changes them
Those questions might also
require common Paper 6 skills
such as drawing and explaining
graphs.
Question 2:
Experiments
& Results

Question 2 MS
Notes for Experiments & Results Questions
Questions about experiments and their results in Paper 6 is mostly about describing results of certain
experiments and explaining them. You will sometimes need prior knowledge of:
Some tests for
certain chemicals
(not always)
Some steps of certain
experiments and why
we do them
Potential results of
certain experiments
(predictions)
Safety Precautions
and Reliability of
certain experiments
Those questions might
also require common
Paper 6 skills such as
filling in tables.

Question 4:
Planning an Experiment
Sample Answer:
You have to use paper chromatography to see if the orange
drink contains these colors. First, you take a chromatography
paper and draw a base line (with a pencil) and mark 3 spots
on the line. Put the samples of the 2 artificial colors on the
spots and put the sample of orange drink on the 3rd. Put the
paper in a container standing upright. Next, add water until
under the base line. Wait for the water to go up the paper
and check the results. If the spots of the orange coloring
reached the same level as the ones from E110 and E129, then
it contains artifical coloring. If it reached different levels, then
it does not contain them.
Question 4: Diagrams to help explain
Question 4 MS
Notes for Planning Experiments Questions
Questions about Planning Experiments in Paper 6 are the only questions that need a lot of thinking. They
will need prior knowledge of:
Certain Experiments
throughout the syllabus
How to plan an experiment:
State the name of the experiment, Write down
and explain the steps of the experiment, and
Give a conclusion to the experiment
Some may require diagrams to
illustrate the experiment
