Resource Planning in PS using
Noveco solutions
Key Requirements
Requirements
•
Plan Individual Resources across projects and workcenters in SAP PS directly
•
Estimate required hours of individual resources (e.g. Drafting, Electrical Engineer, Project Manager
etc.) on Project Network Activities or WBS elements using Activity Type or generic cost elements
•
Determine person availability by reading personnel HR time schedule and allocations to other
projects
•
Allocate available hours: 1) individual Person; or 2) Position with assigned persons; or 3) Work
Center with all Positions and Persons included to a project Network Activity or WBS element

labour costs plan is done using quantity and rate
cost and work to complete is distributed along WBS and NWA

You can allocate individual
resources to project WBS or
NWA by several userfriendly ways:
1. Select a person (or
multiple persons), select
project item and click on
“Allocate” button
2. Drag a line from the ALV
screen to a project item on
the tree or on the project
ALV screen
3. Drag a person (or multiple
persons) from Resource
Tree and drop to Project

Summary:
•
Resource Planning is performed directly in SAP PS using the most up-to-date information
about project resource requirements
•
Available hours are read from the person’s SAP HR Work schedule taking into account
normal hours, planned holidays, existing allocations.
•
Cost Plan on a project defines required resources (e.g. Engineer, Draftsman, Project
Manager), which are related to persons default activity type defined in HR master record
•
Soft resource allocation to a project defines ”planned” allocation and can be shifted in time
•
Committed resource allocation cannot be shifted in time
•
Project WBS or NWA resource requirements can be shifted (if their requirements are not
committed) to periods with available resources
•
Resources can be allocated as individual persons or as a group of resources (Position or
even an entire Work Center can be allocated)
•
Resources from multiple Work Centers can be allocated to project items
•
A custom list of available resources can be created by each user
•
Friendly graphical user interface designed to simplify the resource allocation process
