1. Presentation of Equavision
The Equavision is a loading bays management and load monitoring software designed to meet
the requirements of depots equipped with Equalis S calculators. The Equavision offers a secure and
controlled loading procedure. It also provides control and overview of the site, allowing operators to
access details of all loading arms, pumps, storage tanks, densitometers, vehicles, drivers, and products
delivered on the site. The Equavision can be supplied as a simple stand-alone station for small depots
or be configured at larger sites as a complete client / server system where multiple user PCs are
required. Equavision is an intuitive, easy-to-use application that can be configured for many different
scenarios.

1.3 Hardware characteristics
1.3.1 Recommended computer
The number of clients (server-client system architecture) is limited according to the
specifications of the PC, with a basic mySQL installation, a maximum of 10 clients can be supported.
The computer must be equipped with two Ethernet network cards to isolate the "field" Ethernet
network from the "office" Ethernet network allowing access to the Internet. As remote access is
offered as standard, in the installation of the Equavision, it is recommended to equip the computer in
such a way as to ensure this network separation. A RAID configuration that mirrors the hard drive on
a separate device is a recommendation because it will provide the system with some robustness in the
event of drive failure.
1.3.2 Recommended monitor
The choice of monitor will be largely influenced by the number of loading bays to be displayed
and on how the system will be used (use of the loading plan). A single 24" wide screen is normally
sufficient. If the need for an additional screen is requested, it is important to check beforehand that
the computer provides the ability to drive an" extended desktop ".
1.4 Software architecture
The standard architecture consists of an operator workstation, consisting of a single PC using
Microsoft Windows 10, Word, Excel, a MySQL database and Equavision software. The Equavision
software is separated into two applications, one called Equavision server and the other Equavision
client. Equavision server is a software that runs in the background, its objective is to communicate with
the various "field" equipment of the depot and to store the result of the communication in a database.
The client Equavision is the only application useful for the operator.

1.5 Orders, loadings, and transactions
The Equavision is based on the logging of data from Equalis located on the loading bays. A
loading bay can consist of one or more loading arms, with an Equalis monitoring product deliveries on
those arms. When a quantity of a product is dispensed from an arm on a loading bay, a record occurs
in the Equavision database. The data recorded are all those that Equalis records, the quantity, the
quality of the product, the identifier of the truck, the compartment, the driver, the customer, and the
name of the loading bay are the minimum information recorded. A truck can collect products for
several orders, for example if the truck must make a set of deliveries to different customers. An order
can also be considered as open making it possible to manage an authorization for a particular carrier
without a quantity limit.

2. Operator functions and interfaces
The purpose of this chapter is to briefly describe the main functions and interfaces of
Equavision. The Equavision is made up of several views allowing you to:
1. Configure the physical installation of the depot (number of loading bays, pumps,
densitometers, storage tanks, etc.)
2. Configure the safety systems (earth monitoring system, anti-overflow probe, VRU, etc.)
3. Make the most of the “loading plan” functionality. To do this, it is necessary to complete the
databases with information internal to the depot. The essential databases are listed below:
 Storer database
 Marketer database
 Transporter database
 Driver database
 Vehicle database
 Receiver database
 Loader database
 Order database
4. Make the most of the database storage through configurable reporting.

2.1.2 Pumps configurations
The purpose of this chapter is to configure the Equavision server to establish communication
with the pump controller (base products and additives). This configuration allows you to create each
pump and associate one or more loading arms to each pump. The configuration is done in two steps:
1. Pump creation
 Name
 IP Address of pump controller
 Modbus command
 Type
  Add
 Association of the loading arms to each pump
 Selection in the right window of the loading arms associated with this pump
  Modify / Arm link
2. Check the update of the association, by the appearance in the "Arm link" column of a
character string indicating that the link is taken into account.

2.3 Loading plan
The Equavision offers the ability to enter and manage orders. Several types of orders are
currently supported from:
 open orders
 detailed orders by compartment, in the case of bottom loading, which include the
specifications of the vehicle (tank truck), the selection of a transporter, a storer, a
driver, etc ...
 Orders by quantities of products in the case of top loading which include vehicle
specifications (authorized weight), selection of a transporter, a storer, a driver, etc…
The triggering of loading of a vehicle can be linked to the presence of an order from a higher system
(CPDP for example) or internally to the depot. If Equavision is configured this way, all loading
operations can only be done if they are associated with an order. All orders and transactions are stored
and offer the possibility of being viewed later.
The loading process is activated either by :
 the operator on the loading gantry who invokes a delivery request by a numeric code
or the insertion of a badge. The Equavision matches the number and the associated
order and transmits the detail of the loading plan to Equalis. The operator can then
check the loading plan and initiate the delivery (s) depending on the compartment to
be loaded.
 The operator, in the control room, who assigns a loading plan manually to a gantry
when the truck is positioned.
Equalis is in charge of controlling the loading process on the loading bay itself by checking the
safety devices (such as the earthing system, the anti-overflow probe, arm orientation, or the vapor
recovery unit, etc.). This information is also transmitted to Equavision which offers a visual safety check
for each loading bay.
The exit ticket reports the overall results of the loading process and is therefore the last step
before the vehicle and its driver leave the depot. The exit ticket generally indicates information on the
contents of the tank such as the product (s) loaded with the quantities, the customer, the order
number, etc… The exit ticket can be designed in different ways to suit the needs of the customer. The
printing of the exit ticket can be automatic after the end of loading or on demand, for example when
the driver leaves the site.

3. Loading process
depots.
The Equavision is flexible and attempts to cover many different practices encountered on
•
•
•
Via identification on gantry: One of the most common practices is entering the order
number at the loading bay and waiting for authorization from a supervision system. The
Equalis interface is perfectly suited to this loading process. Without any other additional
identification device to install on a loading dock, Equalis provides the user with the
possibility of invoking an order number either by keyboard entry or by inserting an RFID
badge. This number is then transmitted by Modbus to Equavision which will send back all
the information necessary to the operator to carry out all the operations.
Via manual assignment of a plan to a gantry: Another practice consists in assigning a
loading plan to a loading gantry by a depot operator. The driver reports to the depot
manager, who manually prepares the loading plan and orally tells him the number of the
gantry on which the loading must take place. The depot operator then uses the depot view
to assign a plan to an island, making the loading arms linked to this plan.
As soon as the driver directs a loading arm, the Equavision will send the quantities
provided for in the order in which the plan was drawn up. Each time the driver stows the
arm and unfolds it, the Equavision will offer him the next product with the associated or
remaining quantity.
Via continuous observation of the gantry: Another frequently used practice is to let
operators perform their loading operations independently by requiring them to enter
identifying information before each delivery and to let Equavision collect those deliveries.
In this mode of operation, no loading plan is necessary, and no control is ensured to avoid
loading errors. Sorting deliveries is then more complicated for Equavision users.

3.1 Order creation
When the loading process requires an order before any loading can take place, it is necessary
to have a valid order in the database, so it is imperative that all databases (customer, transporter,
tractor, tank and driver) are complete. To create a plan, go to the "Loading plan" menu:
=>
The first step is to fill in the fields of the frame (1). Order and BL are free fields, the other fields are to
be chosen from the lists previously filled out.

For each compartment, the name of the product and the quantity must be specified. In the
case of an open order, a tank with only one compartment (volume > 900000L) can be used. In the case
of top loading, it is the quantity of the total product that must be entered.
The second step is to fill the compartments that will be loaded for the order, with a certain quantity
and a product identified by its name (2). The planned volume should always be less than the
compartment volume.

The third and final step is to provide the operator with an authorization code to start loading
operations. There are two possibilities for this:
 Either Equalis is equipped with an integrated RFID badge reader, in this case you must enter
the badge number in the "Authorization code" field then click on "Add plan"

3.2 Loading operations
Once validated, the plan is available on the loading bay and the operator can begin loading
operations. The principle is to follow the following process:
1. Invoke the code on the Equalis by one of the following two methods:

Pressing the () key when the Equalis is in idle state, followed by entering the code,

The insertion of a RFID badge, associated with the order, when Equalis is in idle state
2. Sending by supervision of all the details of the order, by the Modbus network and display on
the screen of Equalis
When supervision sends a detailed display of a loading plan, Equalis presents the operator with
two distinct types of screens. The first consists of a summary of the information related to the order
(code, order number, customer, transporter, driver, truck and tank plates, the number of
compartments to be filled) as well as the status of this order. The following screens consist of
presenting in detail the quantity to be loaded, the quantity already loaded as well as the name of the
product for 4 consecutive compartments. To switch from the first screen to another, the operator must
use the following key on the Equalis :

The operator can then either:
 Consult the order by displaying all the screens detailing it

Reserve the order to carry it out. In this case, Equavision associates this loading plan with the
loading bay that made the reservation request and prohibits any reservation request from
another loading bay

Release the order, if it is not complete and be completed on another loading bay or later
This feature is available on all Equalis, it is not necessary for Equalis to be equipped with a
badge reader for the operator to be able to consult an order, only the idle state of Equalis is required.
The operator cannot view an order if Equalis is being delivered or configured.
Once all the compartments have been loaded, the loading plan is automatically closed by
Equavision, and it becomes impossible for another user to use it to initiate a load. It can only be viewed
on the loading bays.
3.3 Order printing
Once the plan has been completed (and depending on the configuration of the Equavision), a
delivery ticket will be printed automatically, on the default printer of the server PC, or manually.
Manual printing is done from the "Loading plan" view, "Consultation Plan" tab
 Select an order from the left table (1).
 The associated deliveries appear in the table on the right (2).
 Click on one of the print order buttons (3).

3.4 Configuration of a logical input, base product, blending product and additive
Before configuring a logical input or a base product, it is important to synchronize the database
with the Equalis. Since the configuration can be done either through Equalis or through Equavision, it
is recommended to synchronize the products and logical inputs configurations by a manual update. To
do this, go to the "Product update" and "Input update" menu of the Equavision Client, then simply
choose the loading bay and loading arm before validating.
→
Once the recovery has been performed, it is possible to consult the characteristics requested
by using the depot view, then by opening the view of the concerned arm. The characteristics are then
arranged by tabs “Inputs”, “Products”, “Additives” or “Blending”.
The principle of modification will be the same on each tab. A group of modifiable parameters for
each logical inputs, base products, additives, blending products will be presented, either:
 15 logical inputs groups
 32 base products groups
 10 additives groups
 32 blending products groups

the principle is the same regardless of the parameter to be modified:
1. Parameter reading
2. Parameter modification
3. Sending the parameter to Equalis
4. Awaiting confirmation

Successful product modification
If the modification did not work, Modbus communication with the Equalis must not be active,
it is then possible to check the state of the communication by consulting the depot view. If Equalis is
blue, this means that it is responding to Modbus requests and that it is idle, if it is red, a problem needs
to be analysed by opening the view of the arm.
