Verbals.
Verbals are form of a verb used as an
adjective, adverb and noun.
It is a word derived from verb that functions
in a sentence as a noun or a modifier rather
than as a verb.
There
1.
2.
3.
are 3 types of verbals :
Participle
Gerund
Infinitive
Now let us talk about the Participle,
- A verb form that function as an
adjective
The participle have 2 types.

Present Participle that usually
ends in -ing
I think it is all about verbs
in a sentence.

Ex:
Past participle that usually ends in
-d,ed,t.en,n..
 The babies reacted strongly to
the applauding crowd. (
Applauding is describing crowd
that is a noun)
Verb form + acting as adjective
= participle.
 The abandoned house in town is
like something from a horror
movie. (The word abandoned is
a verb form but in this sentence
it is describing the noun house)
Next is Gerund
- A verb form that acts as a noun.
- Always ends in –ing
Example:
Training is hard work, but worth it when you
accomplish your goal.
(Training ends in –ing
-verb form
-acting as noun because it acts as a
subject of the sentence)
Planting relaxes my mind.
(Planting is used as a subject(noun)
in a sentence
Relaxes as transitive verb
My mind as direct object.)
Last one is Infinitive.
- A verb form that function as an
-
adjective,noun,adverb
It is formed using “to + verb1”
Example:
To run daily keeps you fit. – noun
To see her happy keeps me happy. –
adjectives
Everybody likes to dance. - adverb

another activity. Again, you may raise your
hand if you want to answer.

1. It is a verb form but function as an
adjective, a noun and an adverb.
2. Its function is to act as a noun that
always ends in -ing
3. It is a verb form but act as an
adjective.
F. Abstraction
G. Generalizations
It is Infinitive ma’am.
It is Gerund ma’am.
Participle ma’am.
Alright very good. It’s all correct. Maybe you
wonder about the -ing form of present
participle and Gerund, always remember
that participle act as an adjectives while
gerund function as a noun. Studying verbals
is important because they are essential
components of sentence structure and help
to create more complex sentences.
Why there is a need to study the types of
Verbals?
I guess we really need to
learn types of verbals to
helps us express our ideas
and thoughts, emotions
