Abbreviations
st: stitch
k: knit
p: purl
BO: Bind off: knit 2 stitches, pass
the first stitch over the second.
Edge Stitch
With yarn in front, slip 1 stitch as
if to purl. Move yarn to back and
continue working in pattern. The
last stitch of the row should be
knit.

CO 66 sts.
Continue in pattern as follows:
Row 1: 1 edge st, (k4, p4) until the last st, k1.
Rows 2-6: 1 edge st, (k4, p4) until the last st, k1.
Row 7: 1 edge st, (p4, k4) until the last st, k1.
Rows 8-12: 1 edge st, (p4, k4) until the last st, k1.
Repeat these 12 rows until the work measures approx. 10” end with either row 5 or 11 inpattern.
Bind off in pattern.
Cut yarn and weave in the ends.

Photo Tutorial – Edge stitch:
1. Bring the yarn to the front of the work.
2. Slip 1 st as if to purl: Insert needle from right
to left and slip the stitch to the right needle
without knitting it.

3. Move the yarn to the back of the work.
4. The last stitch on the row should be knit. This
technique gives the piece a finished look with
a smooth edge on both sides.
Photo Tutorial – Bind Off:
1. Knit 2 stitches = 2 sts on the right needle. Pass 2. Only 1 st remains on the right needle. Repeat
the first stitch over the second stitch.
until all sts have been bound off.
3. TIP. If the last st is too loose, you can k2tog
with the last stitch and the edge st.
4. Pull the last remaining stitch to form a long
loop and cut the yarn. Pull the yarn through
the stitch to create a knot. Weave in the ends.
