MRI Cooling System Location: Guangdong, China Product: I-7232D 4 CAN Bus Description: In order to reduce costs, an MRI manufacturer uses a chiller made in China instead of a more expensive German product. However, the customer experienced difficulties due to the different communication interfaces. By using the I-7232D, this problem was solved. The I-7232D was able to be used as a Modbus RTU master while communicating with the chiller. In contrast, in the CANopen network, the I-7232D can be used as a CANopen slave. It is a higher-layer protocol based on Controller Area Network (CAN), which provides serial data communications between microprocessor systems (ECU) in any kind of heavy duty vehicles. The messages exchanged between these units can be the vehicle road speed, torque control message from the transmission to the engine, oil temperature, and so forth. The PDU2 message format identifies a message number versus a node number. In this case, each node monitor the CAN bus for specific message pro-defined in the node configuration, and drop other messages if useless. In this system, the Volvo Penta Diesel engine which offers the J1939 communication interface is used. Here are two main operational modes of HART instruments: analog/digital mode, and multi-drop mode Peer-to-Peer mode The analog and digital signals can be communicated in this mode. Here the digital signals are overlaid on the 4 ~ 20 mA loop current. Both the 4 ~ 20 mA current and the digital signal are valid output values from the instrument. The polling address of the instrument is set to "0". Only one instrument can be put on each instrument cable signal pair. Multi-drop mode (digital) In this mode, only the digital signals are used. The analog loop current is fixed at 4 mA. In multi-drop mode it is possible to have up to 15 instruments on one signal cable. The polling addresses of the instruments will be in the range 1 ~ 15.
