1. “O, yet I do repent me of my fury, That I do kill them” (act 2, scene 3, page 27) He didn’t
get in trouble for killing the guards, showing the span of his power.
2. “Thriftless ambition, that wilt ravin up Thine own life’s means! Then ‘tis most like”(act 2,
scene 4, page 30) - Ross - Ross believes that Duncan’s sons killed him for the throne.
Though Duncan was killed out of ambition, it was Macbeth, not Duncan’s sons.
3. “First I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then as his host,
who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself”(act 1, scene 7,
pages 15-16) - Macbeth - Macbeth knows that as Duncan’s subject, friend, and host he
should not try to hurt him. Doing so would be an abuse of the power that Duncan has
given Macbeth. By killing Duncan Macbeth abuses his power as well as Duncan’s trust.
