INTRODUCTION Water is an essential substance to every living organism, but portable water is most essential to healthy life of humanity. Therefore the need to assesse the quality of water being treated at the Kpong water treatment plant. The project is looking forward to assessing the performance of the treatment units and quality (physical, chemical and bacteriological) of water before and after treatment. THE SCHEMATIC FLOW CHART OF KPONG WATER TREATMENT PLANT. PROBLEM STATEMENT Is the raw water quality good enough and not creating challenges for the treatment units? Is the performance of the treatment units meeting the required standard of the plant design? Is the final water quality meeting the World Health Organisation (WHO) both on the plant and on the distribution lines. JUSTIFICATION •To help know the state of raw water quality. •To assess the performance of the treatment units. •To provide information on the quality the treated for distribution. AIM AND OBJECTIVES. AIM. To assess the performance of the Kpong treatment plant. OBJECTIVES. • To identify the various units of the Kpong water treatment plant. • To perform physical, chemical and bacteriological test on the raw water and the final water. • To analyze the quality of final water along the distribution line at Dodowa booster station and Adenta township. SCOPE OF WORK The scope of work is to assess the performance of the Kpong treatment plant with respect to the quality of raw water against the final water as well as quality of water at the Dodowa booster station and the Adenta community, and come up with mitigation measures if there is any challenge. CONCLUSION • In conclusion, portable water is a vital substance to the health of human beings and other organisms, hence the necessity to research on the topic “performance assessment of the Kpong water treatment plant”. To many sure the plant is treating portable water for her consumers.
