INTRODUCTION
Water is an essential substance to every living organism,
but portable water is most essential to healthy life of
humanity.
Therefore the need to assesse the quality of water being
treated at the Kpong water treatment plant.
The project is looking forward to assessing the
performance of the treatment units and quality
(physical, chemical and bacteriological) of water before
and after treatment.
THE SCHEMATIC FLOW CHART OF KPONG WATER
TREATMENT PLANT.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Is the raw water quality good enough and not
creating challenges for the treatment units?
Is the performance of the treatment units
meeting the required standard of the plant
design?
Is the final water quality meeting the World
Health Organisation (WHO) both on the plant
and on the distribution lines.
JUSTIFICATION
•To help know the state of raw water
quality.
•To assess the performance of the
treatment units.
•To provide information on the quality
the treated for distribution.
AIM AND OBJECTIVES.
AIM.
To assess the performance of the Kpong treatment plant.
OBJECTIVES.
• To identify the various units of the Kpong water treatment
plant.
• To perform physical, chemical and bacteriological test on the
raw water and the final water.
• To analyze the quality of final water along the distribution
line at Dodowa booster station and Adenta township.
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work is to assess the performance of
the Kpong treatment plant with respect to the
quality of raw water against the final water as
well as quality of water at the Dodowa booster
station and the Adenta community, and come up
with mitigation measures if there is any challenge.

EXPECTATION
My expectation at the end of this research, is to
see the actual performance of the treatment units
and the quality of treated water the Kpong water
treatment plant of the Ghana Water Company
Limited is giving to the people of Ghana.
CONCLUSION
• In conclusion, portable water is a vital substance
to the health of human beings and other
organisms, hence the necessity to research on the
topic “performance assessment of the Kpong
water treatment plant”.
To many sure the plant is treating portable water for her
consumers.
