Argumentative Essay Title
This is where your introduction will begin. As per the Assignment 1 guide, your
Introduction should clearly introduce the topic (including key definitions and concepts), discuss
the rationale for the essay (the purpose and possible translational impact of findings from the
essay), and summarise the key arguments for the position taken in the major argumentative
essay. All essay paragraphs should follow APA formatting, with the first line of each paragraph
indented and the paragraphs being double spaced like shown. Your introduction should be one
single paragraph.
The next paragraph should start on the next line like this. This would be your first body
paragraph. You will have approximately 4-5 of these which will be the key points that you
explore the current evidence towards. These paragraphs should clearly answer/address the topic.
The key points should be clear themes that your essay can be easily separated into, for example,
different parts of a theory, different populations, evidence for vs against, strengths and
weaknesses. All body paragraphs should follow the TEECL method for writing (see the
Assignment 1 guide for details of this method.
This would be another paragraph with a new key point and a summary of your argument
& evidence towards it.

This would be another paragraph with a new key point and a summary of your argument
& evidence towards it. You can have as many as you’d like to have but we recommend 4-5 based
on the 2500 word-count of the assignment.
Your final paragraph will be your conclusion. Your conclusion should recap the
importance of the essay topic, clearly state your essay findings (summarise key points, including
limitations), and conclude the validity of your position on the topic given the current evidence.
You will also need to discuss the potential implications of your findings toward support for the
theory and real world/translational/societal impact. This should also be one single paragraph.
Please make sure to follow the marking criteria as your primary reference. These statements in
this template are here as a guide but the marking criteria are what you will actually be assessed
on. Make sure that you address all criteria for each section.

References
This is where you will provide a list of all your references in APA 7th format. Click the
hyperlink for details of how to do this. APA referencing requires a hanging indent (as
shown here, where it is indented in from the second line of each reference).
You would then have a second reference start here on this next line. Again, this should be in
APA format. Each source will have a slightly different format depending on what type of
source it is (book, journal article, report, or newspaper article).
This would be a third reference. You should have at least 7 in total. All in-text references should
appear in this list and vice versa.
