Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow Mid-semester Examination March 2022 Image and Video Processing (IVP631E/ IVP631C/ IVP231C) Regular and Back Paper Date of Examination: 16/03/2022; 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM QPS: Dr. Soumendu Chakraborty Duration: 2 hr Total Mark: 30 There are 5 questions. All questions are compulsory. Students should write their roll number in the answer sheet. The scanned copy of the answer sheet should be submitted in a single file. Scanning and uploading time is included in the total duration. Necessary assumptions can be taken if and only if some required information is missing. Q.1. a) If V = {2,3,4}, compute the 4 and 8 connected components of the pixels (p), (q), (r) in the sub-image shown in Fig.1(a). Show the components by giving unique names to unnamed pixels. b) If V={2}, show 4 and 8 connected regions of the sub-image shown in Fig.1(a). c) For V={1} and V={2}, Determine whether S2 in Fig.2(b) is 4 and 8 connected regions or not. Also find out whether S1 and S2 are 4and 8 adjacent or not [3+2+3] Q.2. Consider the image shown in Fig.2. Suppose the given image is shrunk 2 times in x and y directions. Compute the intensities at (1, 2) and (3, 1) using bi-cubic interpolation. [7] Q.3. Show that the product of cumulative distribution of an input image with maximum intensity level transform the image into an image with uniform probability density. [4] Q.4. Design a transformation function T(r) using Histogram Matching to transform the image shown in Fig.3(a) to the image shown in Fig.3(b). If T(r) is the transformation function then r takes the values from Fig.3(a). [6] Q.5. In power law transformation what are the ranges of γ for the visual enhancements in the dark and hazy images? How power law is used in improving the visual quality of the analog display? [5]
