1. Workplace ethics is a reflection of how morality is given significance in an organization, company, or work set-up. The way people deal with each other with righteous characteristics is a positive sign of workplace ethics. If workplace ethics is given great regard in a company or organization internally, it will result in a good impression externally. 2. Great Job Performance – employees may perform well if work ethics in their work environment is given importance as this may motivate them to work together positively. Higher Productivity – if the work environment is taken care of well by the employees, this may also inspire them to finish their tasks on time or ahead of time. Strong Bonds – giving importance to ethics is also gaining respect in the workplace furthermore, this may help the employees to get along positively. Job Satisfaction – if the workplace is filled with ethical principles, employees may likely give more love and significance to their job which may result to a higher job satisfaction. Customers’/Clients’ Satisfaction – the workplace ethics will reflect the performance of a company/organization which is most likely to be seen by the customers or clients. 3. Negligence – there are some situations in that Engineers take advantage of the project they have and don’t actually give attention to it. Engineers are expected to have excellent plans and skillfully execute them however, Engineers’ negligence in his/her responsibility will lead to failure. Being a negligent Engineer is an unethical behavior and this will only affect the job negatively. Taking credit for others’ hard work – there are so many situations with regards to this one from small organizations to bigger companies. There are Engineers who take advantage of the potential of his/her co-workers. This is an unwritten illegal practice. Taking credits for others’ hard work is showing no respect for their effort, skills, and even existence. 4. Emerging strong ethics in a workplace starts with the people who run the workplace. It all starts with the highest governing body or the highest sector of a workplace. It should be understood from the start that ethics is one of the important aspects to be given attention. There should be detailed plans or systematic ways to deal with developing strong ethics such as implementing guidelines or barriers with regard to the workplace ethics. 5. I would not retain him. With all my experiences in dealing with different people, I have come to realize that the attitude and behavior of a person are very important. The skills and knowledge can be learned with determination but imparting ethics is difficult. Discipline is where every high-caliber personality start. If he/ or she has no discipline then he/she has no chance of learning. Having an undisciplined staff or employee will only flaw an organization or company. 6. Professionalism – Professionals are the people who understand their roles and purpose. It is very important that individuals know what to prioritize and what to sort out. There will be situations in that co-workers may deal with personal engagements may it be positive or negative, but it should not affect his/her performance or the workplace. Initiative – Individuals who possess a great sense of initiative are more likely the ones who give higher appreciation for their work. There are urgent and unexpected situations that may happen in a workplace and a sense of initiative is good choice of response to it. Desire to Improve – Everyone is destined to infinite improvement. If an individual knows how to embrace the beauty of learning and improving then he/she is a good asset to a workplace. A company or an organization does not need a perfect employee to become the best, what they really need is one who is willing to improve.
