7 February 2023 Dear Parents / Guardians, Primary 6 Assessment Plans and Schedule for 2023 (Standard) 1. As shared at the Parent Engagement Session on 13 January 2023, the school has put in place assessment plans to help teachers check your child’s / ward’s understanding and address any learning gaps, as well as to provide feedback to you on his / her learning progress. 2. In line with MOE’s direction to reduce the excessive focus on examinations so as to provide more time and space for the development of 21st Century Competencies in our students, all Mid-Year Examinations have been removed. Instead, there will be formative non-weighted assessment as well as assessment practices throughout the year to provide timely feedback to students and parents. Please refer to Annex A for the Overview of Weighted Assessments for English, Mathematics, Science and Mother Tongue for Primary 6. Please note that the plans are not inclusive of non-weighted assessment, daily classwork, tasks and homework. 3. The assessment practices for English and Mother Tongue are scheduled to be in Term 1, from 27 February to 3 March 2023. For Mathematics and Science, the assessment practices will be in Term 2, from 2 to 5 May 2023. The Preliminary Examination will be held in Term 3 as informed in the 2023 Overview of Key Events and Holidays sent on 2 January 2023. 4. Please refer to Annex B for the school’s Assessment Policy and take note that a Medical Certificate (MC) is required for any absence in weighted assessment or examination unless for valid reasons (VR) subject to the school’s approval. A positive ART result will also be considered as MC for a student’s absence. Students with MC or VR will not be penalised for the absence and will have their overall marks for the year for the subject absent pro-rated accordingly. 5. Please click on “Acknowledge” in the PG App notification by Friday, 10 February 2023 to indicate that you have received and read this letter. 6. For queries and clarifications, please contact Mr Mohd Abdul Halim, P6 Level Manager at 65661980 or email us at bukitview_ps@moe.edu.sg . This is to ensure that the assessment is fair, and to prevent leakage of the assessment questions. • All assessments will start and end at the stipulated time in the assessment schedule. • Students who arrive within 30 minutes after the start time will be permitted to enter the examination room but may not be granted any time extension unless a valid reason is provided. The school’s decision is final. • Students who are late for more than 30 minutes after the start time may not be allowed to sit for the assessment unless a valid reason is provided. The school’s decision is final. OFFENCE Cheating is a major and serious offence. • Students should not be in possession of any unauthorised notes, non-approved dictionaries or calculators, and communication equipment capable of storing and displaying visual, audio and verbal information such as cameras and handphones. • Students should not communicate with other candidates during the assessment. • A student who is caught cheating, attempting to cheat or assist in cheating during an assessment will be given a zero mark for the paper and a “Poor” conduct grade.
