Chapter 15 project:
Procedure
1. Select your topic
2. Create a presentation using google slides/power point. Minimum five slides.
3. Create a video of yourself presenting your slideshow on flipgrid. Minimum 5 minute
presentation.
4. Upload your video to the flipgrid link in google classroom.
Focus points related to your topic - should be addressed in detail in your slide show:
● Give key information and details related to your topic.
● Who was affected? Why? What was the public reaction?
● Explain the changes that occurred politically, socially, culturally and economically with
your topic.
Topics​:
1. Economic Boom​: Discuss economic incentives created by the GI Bill and lower interest
rates.. How did the Baby Boom contribute to economic growth. How did the defense
industry contribute to economic opportunities of business and technology growth.
Discuss new consumer products, technology and innovations that opened up high
paying job opportunities.
2. Society on the move: ​ Include the interstate highway act and movement of families
away from inner cities to suburbs. Housing boom with programs like FHA. Car Culture
and its impact on America and the migration of people to the sun belt states.
3. Popular Culture and family life​: Discuss how innovations such as television and rock
and roll music affected life in America. Include ideal family life, Home ownership,
Consumer economy concepts in your presentation. How did Television impact the
everyday lives of Americans?
4. Dissent and discontent​. Life was not better for everyone after World War II. Racial
strife and segregation still existed and poverty was widespread. Cities and urban
centers were in decline. Disabled veterans suffered without adequate treatment.
Include minority groups and immigrants struggling to fit into the new America.
