 Sexual harassment’ is any form of unwelcome
sexual behavior that’s offensive, humiliating or
intimidating. Sexual harassment is against the law.
 This experience affects people in different ways.
 Sexual harassment is a type of sexual violence –
the phrase we use to describe any sexual activity
or act that happened without consent.
Sexual harassment can include someone's: Touching, Grabbing or Making any contact with
you without your consent.
 Leering and Staring at you.
 Displaying rude and offensive material so that
you or others can see it
 Making sexual gestures.
 Cracking adult jokes and comments around or to
you.
 Good touch: Any touch that makes the child
happy or secure is good.
 A mother hugging a child or a doctor examining a
child or a grandparent kissing their grandchild are
all examples of a good touch.
 Bad touch: A touch that makes a child afraid,
uncomfortable or nervous is a bad touch.
For example, if anyone touches a child and tells
him or her not to tell anyone, it is a bad touch.
Broadly speaking, there are three forms of
sexual harassment.
These are:
 Verbal sexual harassment
 Physical sexual contact
 Non-verbal sexual harassment
 Verbal sexual harassment involves saying anything of
a sexual nature to someone who is an unwilling
recipient.
 Unwanted physical contact is considered either
sexual harassment or sexual assault, depending on
the severity of the encounter.
 Any form of unwanted touching like patting,
grabbing, rubbing and pinching.
 Non-verbal sexual harassment is any form of unwanted
sexual communication or conduct

 This includes sending emails and text messages that are
sexually explicit.
 No one deserves, or asks, to be sexually harassed. Everyone
has the right to live in an environment that’s free from
harassment, bullying, discrimination and violence. Sexual
harassment is illegal (under the Sex Discrimination Act
1984).
 If you have been sexually harassed, here are some things you
can do:1. Tell an adult
2. Tell them to stop
3. Don’t blame yourself
4. Reporting Sexual Harassment

Conclusion
Sexual harassment is a very real issue that went
unnoticed for a long period of time, but not anymore.
It is essential for all of us to take measures to prevent it
from happening as it damages the life of the victim
severely.
Thus, make sure you help out those who are suffering
from sexual harassment and make the perpetrator
accountable.
