SPSS TRAINING PERFORMANCE REPORT
About the course
SPSS is the most user friendly statistical research software for research which
provides data analytical tools and visualization.
The course was designed in a way that it provides participants with a practical
application of the statistical components IBM SPSS Statistics. The participants
will review several statistical techniques as well as how to apply them with
confidence interpret their output, and graphically display the results.
Target Participants
The training was designed for Give Us Wings Uganda’s Staff who majorly
handles DATA and intend to learn the use of SPSS for their DATA Management
and DATA Analysis
Course duration
The course during was set to take place for 3 days only.
The software training began on 8th/09/2020 and ended on 10th/09/2020 with five
trainees in attendance.
The training was carried out smoothly as the trainees were reliable and able to
learn the SPSS statistical software. The trainees acquired knowledge on the
following.







How to enter data, and data cleaning for purposes of detecting errors
Initial data checking, and checking for duplicate entries
How to generate descriptive statistics using both frequencies and descriptive
How to handle missing data and replacing missing data
How to Transform and compute variables
How to design graphs
How to retrieve data files and reading data from spreadsheet formats (Excel)
 How to edit and modify a data set e.g. inserting data, deleting a case,
inserting a variable, and deleting a variable.
 Generating cross-tabulation and a two way cross tabulation
 How to recode a variable and merge data in SPSS
 How to Analyze and interpret data using parametric statistics
 How to test for normality using both Null Hypothesis and Alternative
Hypothesis, with getting and explaining the P-value
 Generation of correlation using Pearson and Spearman’s correlation
coefficient and regression to generate model summary, ANOVA, and
coefficients
 How to interpret, observe and explain the data presented in the tables
In conclusion, the Statistics Program for Social Science (SPSS) training was
significant to the trainee because it exposed the trainee to presenting, analyzing,
interpretation and reporting of data.
Training Approach
The training was delivered by Tororo Computer Training Institute. The course
was taught through a mix of theory and practical activities and case studies.
Training manuals were also provided to the members during the study in the
training.
