B-TEC Business Oswaidiq Kea Unit - 1.1 P1and P2: Explain the different types of physical activities provided in a local area and the benefits of participating in each. Also, explain the reasons for providing different types of physical activities for different participants. What are physical exercises Any movement that engages your muscles and forces your body to burn calories is considered exercise. There are many different kinds of physical activity, to name a few: swimming, running, jogging, walking, and dancing. Numerous health advantages of exercise, both physically and emotionally, have been established. Skills that enable joyful and satisfying participation in physical activities are developed through physical education. Learning new talents becomes simpler. Children are given the opportunity and support they need in physical education to develop and work toward their own, attainable goals. Children who participate in physical education develop a strong feeling of self-worth. My local area offers a variety of sports and activities such as basketball, football, rugby, rounders, Volleyball, baseball, ultimate frisbee, Tennis, badminton, dance, table tennis, Athletics and many more. Physical exercise can be separated into five different categories: sports, physical recreation, Outdoor activities, Physical Education and Physical fitness activities. Going into each category separately, my local area offers a huge array of sports from handball to Ultimate frisbee. For physical recreation my local area has huge events such triathlon, Cycling, running, and athletic events. Thanks to our terrain full of mountains, hills and beautiful views. Our local areas also offer a huge range of outdoor activities such as Hiking, mountain biking and mountain climbing. On top of all that my local community also offers Physical education classes in some of the schools as PHE. The last category is physical fitness activities. This is also a huge thing in our local area because dance is a very big thing in our area, Gym is also a big part of people's lives here, People also like doing zumba and aerobics. Sports In all the sports that our local area, Arusha offers I will be talking about basketball. Basketball is a game in which goals are scored by throwing the ball through netted hoops placed 10 feet above the ground at each end of the court. It is played between two teams of five players.I choose to talk about this in particular because it is one of the biggest growing sports in this area. Tanzania used to be a football heaven but slowly basketball is taking over the area and soon might completely take over Arusha and other parts of the country. Basketball is becoming a beloved sport in the area because of all its physical and mental benefits. FIrst off basketball is a very intellectual game meaning there are alot B-TEC Business Oswaidiq Kea Unit - 1.1 of tactics and game plays that are used just to get the ball through the hoop once, It's also a fast paced game meaning you have to think and react in time or you lose the ball and or you give away a point. It also has a lot of physical benefits such as you need to keep your body in good condition to be able to play for a long time. If you look at the more athletic players you can clearly see they have an easier time on the court than a non athletic player. If you are trying to play basketball more seriously you will need to be going to the gym and keep your cardiovascular endurance very high. At the same time for the people who are not as athletic or are trying to work out, it can be a good way to stay fit because playing thai sport makes you use your entire body from your leg muscles moving around the court to your arms for shooting the ball. It also improves your cardiovascular endurance. Physical recreation - Cycling Cycling is one of the recreational activities that are offered by our local area thanks to our terrain. Cycling is the activity or sport of cycling. Road racing (usually over long distances), pursuit (on an oval track), and cyclo-cross are the three basic types of cycling competition (over rough, open country). There are alot of benefits to cycling, Our endorphin-producing hormones are released during both exercise such as cycling and walking. Your mind will relax and you'll feel happier thanks to these hormones. This improves your attitude and lessens your chances of having anxiety. According to research, people who cycle frequently experience much lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. There are a lot of physical benefits as well such as, your heart, lungs, and circulation are stimulated and improved by regular cycling, which lowers your risk of cardiovascular disorders. Cycling helps your cardiac muscles get stronger, lowers your resting pulse, and lowers blood fat levels. Just off cycling a couple minutes a day you can keep your mind and body in health condition Outdoor activities - Hiking Hiking is the practice of taking long walks, particularly cross-country. This can be done as a leisure activity or as a competitive activity, Arusha has a lot of places to do hikes because of the terrain Just like cycling, hiking is an activity that has a lot of physical and mental benefits. Due to the cardiovascular benefits of hiking, it can also significantly improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Hiking strengthens the leg muscles, strengthens the core muscles, and improves balancing abilities. There are alot of mental benefits as well such as going out in the middle of the woods for a hike and getting that natural light can be really good because it resets our circadian rhythm. The exposure to nature has a calming effect on the mind and the body. At the end of the day keeping our bodies refreshed, calm, reset, and overall fit, same with our mind. B-TEC Business Oswaidiq Kea Unit - 1.1 Physical education - In school (PHE) PH are offered to students in most if not all of the international schools and some of the private schools around Arusha. Physical health education is a class offered in a lot of schools, in some schools it is 80% practical and 20% theoretical and in some other schools it's fully 100% practical just to make sure the students stay fit growing up. There are a lot of benefits of physical education, The advantages of physical education programs go far beyond what is accomplished in the gym. Students benefit from mental health support, stress relief, heart health, and other advantages when they get the chance to get up from their desks and move around in physical education class. Physical fitness activities - Gym Keeping active is more than just exercising. Exercise is a regimented schedule of movement intended to improve or preserve physical fitness. Actually, it falls within the heading of physical activity. Physical activity is any type of muscle-using exercise or movement. There are two types of mental benefits in doing Physical fitness these are long term and short term effects. SHort time effects include things like sleep, less anxiety and lower blood pressure but long term effects are things like Health brain, health heart, Cancer prevention, keeps your weight at a healthy level, keeps your bone structure good, and gives you balance and coordination with your motor skill. M1 Analyse the ways different activities can benefit different groups of participants in the local area. I will be talking about how these activities affect different groups of people in this local area. There are a lot of categories that could be looked at but in this report I will only be looking at five of them. These five will be age, gender (male & female), Disabled and abled personal. Sports Gender (Women) Sports is a big thing in Arusha but the only problem is women don't get as many opportunities as men do. Which can sometimes cause problems because they also like sports and want to play. Maybe they might not push as much as men do when it comes to getting events and games to happen, that is why we as Arusha need to start hosting basketball tournaments for women. The best way to do these events is to invite a well known person around females and ask them to host the event, For B-TEC Business Oswaidiq Kea Unit - 1.1 example inviting the president Mama Samia to host a basketball tournament for women, that would make more people show up because a lot of people look up to her and if she is playing in the event a lot more women will show up to play as well. Diableded The sport of basketball is a growing thing in Arusha, It used to be football was the biggest sport in Arusha but as time goes on everyone wants to play basketball and that includes some disabled people who force themselves to play with more abled people which makes it very unfair. The best way to solve this problem is to open disabled events and make sure to have all disabled friendly equipment around so they can be supported. Like the womens not a lot of people are going to know about it so again I think it is all about where it is hosted and who is hosting it, that is going to make people show up to watch and play. Somewhere in town with easy access to a court and or fields for the disabled to play, As for who is hosting, it doesn't matter if they are disabled or not I think if you just host the event a lot of people will show up. Children Sports for kids in Arusha is not a big problem at all because if you are raised in Arusha you will probably be introduced to football. On the other hand basketball is a sport that is not introduced to kids at a young age, basketball is a sport kids pick up in school and not all schools offer basketball, which I think the best way to solve the problem of children not playing basketball is to have an annual event for kids to come and show their talent in a game. Before that event happens I believe that it will grow more if you have a training camp before hosted by a superstar such as Diamond platinum, which will make all the kids want to show up and play.
