Those pumps are single stage vertical centrifugal pumps by construction and due to simplicity of design and wide range of hydraulic performances are the most used in ship's engine room or deck. Those pumps can be used for delivery of sea water, fresh water, bilge water. Also, can be used like cooling pumps, hot water circulating pumps, freshwater generator pumps, ballast pumps or even as a firefighting units. By construction they are radially split, and their distinctive attributes makes them very simple for maintenance - easily accessible without removal from pipeline or removal of electric motor. Pump body can be made from Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Nickel Aluminum Bronze and it is mechanical sealed. BARE-SHAFT PUMP VARIATION CENTRIFUGAL PUMP - VERTICAL IN-LINE MODEL: "CG" Series / Technical A small number of parts and simple assembly aloes for easy inspection and maintenance. Specific hydraulic design gives compactness with modest space requirement and low height of parts to be handled. The pump cover is shaped as integral part of pump casing and can be dismantled as one assembly containing shaft, impeller and external bearing, independent of motor and pipe connection. Impeller has high suction performance and is cast in corrosion resistant material. Wear ring on upper and lower side with a pressure balancing channel in the pump casing provides hydraulic balance. Bearing bush is situated very close to the impeller thus reducing bending stresses. Protection by shaft nut, impeller, distance ring and mechanical seal eliminates abrasion by medium handled. A heavy ball bearing designed for axial and radial loads is effectively protected in external housing, where a double seal between bearing cover and pump cover, also acting as flinger and grease valve. The bearing housing is made as a carrying member giving rigidity to the pump cover and providing four anchoring points to the pump casing. Internal bearing bush is in standard pump enveloped by a grease chamber containing grease for long periods of operation. Shaft nut constitutes a labyrinth which effectively excludes particles. However, if pump is used in heavily contaminated water, relubrication is recommended every 200 running hours. The pump has been designed to optimize the benefits from the seal: no shaft wear, no adjustment, long service life, negligible leakage, rapid replacement. If sudden breakdown occurs the pump may still be used temporarily without harmful effects. A grease pocket at the mechanical seal permits dry running up to 30 seconds. A special seal arrangement may be applied for extended dry running. Standard type of power transmission consists of a short intermediate shaft with two flexible steel disc couplings, thus allowing a rather wide tolerance on alignment. Motor pedestal is welded from mild steel. It has been fixed to the pump during manufacture and should never be loosened. Pump foot is fabricated from strong steel sections. The basic version has 3-point anchoring to the foundation, thus facilitating alignment and excluding the possibility of transmitting stresses from supporting structure.
