A problem statement (Identify problem for investigation, the purpose for design and create tools)
1. What problem can you identify in figures 1 and 2 below?
Answer: The 2-pin plug is not accommodated on the 3-pin electric socket. Therefore,
the 2-pin plug cannot fit into the socket as the socket only can accommodate the 3pin plug. The 2-pin plug is incompatible and cannot accomplish the function it is
intended for.

2. What existing solutions to the problem do you see in figure 3 below?
Answer: The lack of plug compatibility gives rise to the need for buying 2-pin to 3-pin
adapters such as those shown in Figure 3 below.
3. What problem persists as shown in figure 4 below?

Answer: The 3-pin plug cannot be plugged with other gadgets as the space in between the
plugs is too small. The problem of having to buy another 2-pin to 3-pin plug persists. The
space is so confined that not all gadgets can be plugged in at once.
4. What alternative Solution or modification to design can you make to the existing solutions?
Answer: I will modify the design by increasing the space(dimensions) between the plugs and
adding other necessities (USB ports) to avoid future modifications.
5. What are the advantages of the new design?
 More gadgets can be plugged at the same time without the multiplug being
congested
 With the rise of technology where not only pin plugs are used, I have added USB
ports for better usage and flexibility without having to worry about buying new
plugs to accommodate the USB cables.
 It has all types of ports one can need, 2-pin, 3-pin, USB, and a 2-pin plug with a
round head.
