1. Using Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, identify examples of the forms of capital you possess, focusing on cultural, social, and navigational examples. Be sure to explain your examples. 2. Reflecting on your learning of the various types of skills for both academic and career development: what have you learned about the various types of skills and yourself? What skills do you have and which would you like to develop? 3. Reflecting on John Holland's Theory and the Career Survey that you completed: what did you learn about yourself, your personality traits, and interests? 4. Based on the three careers that you explored for the Career Exploration assignment: what did you learn about yourself and the careers that interest you? Did you find a theme in the types of careers that interest you? After exploring these careers what did you learn about yourself and each career? Do you plan to pursue one of these careers? 5. Based on what you learned in Module 2: what are your next moves to continue your career exploration? Which resources and support will you utilize to achieve your academic and career goals? 1. From Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, I believe I possess social and aspirational capital. Since my parents immigrated to the U.S, it was hard for them to find connections and communities and guidance. Since I am the older sister, it left me with the job to know all of these connections I have that could provide me with the help I need. I also possess aspirational capital, as since I was younger, my parent’s wanted me to do an occupation that made a lot of money for me to not worry about my financial status. Though I found myself not liking any of the occupations that my parents were suggesting and I am now choosing the path that I am willing to pursue. 2. I have resilience and an entrepreneur-mindset. Last year, I was actually supposed to go to UCI but they revoked more than 25k of my grant and I was not able to go. This put me in a spiral because I thought that I was a failure because of it. It was one of the lowest points in my life as I could not know how I would be able to bounce back from that. Thankfully, with time and effort, I got better and slowly started getting more inspired with the more research and enlightenment I get from other people supporting me along the way. I am determined to pursue what I live doing. 3. I learned that I am artistic and a helper. I knew that I was artistic as my whole major is revolved around arts and perusing that, but I dint know that I was social. I am very much on the introverted side, and I get tons of anxiety and nervousness when it comes to talk to people, I rather be alone. Though now that I think about it, I realize that with my social capital from Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, I think that branched off into me forcing myself to be social because that’s what I was taught to do as a child by my parents. 4. Based on the three, the one that I really liked the most was illustration and animation for the career. That is actually my dream job and in hopes to get when I graduate from a university and hopefully later on create my own show for young teens. 5. Based on what I learned in module 2, I am definitely going to apply to internships for animation or gaming studios in hopes to practice and learn character design and animation. This would be so beneficial for me as I would get so much experience and knowledge from actual employees and insight on what it’s like to work for studios. It would also be a big benefit because like from my Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth framework, and in social capital, having connections with those employees would be amazing.
