CASHEW NUTS SITUATION IN TANZANIA
As of December 31, 2022, a total of 167,919.978 tonnes have already been collected and sold in auction
warehouses worth TZS 314,265,029,035. Cashew nut sales auctions are still going on in various parts of
the country, with the southern regions heading towards the edge and Tanga, Singida (Manyoni), Iringa
etc regions preparing to start selling their cashew nuts.
In the last week of December, the lowest price for first-class cashew nuts fell by 1.2 per cent from the
week ending December 15th when the lowest price was Tshs. 1,650 per kilogram. The maximum price
dropped by 3.1% whereas in the week ended December 15, 2022, the maximum price was TZS. 1,960
per kilogram.
The reason for this decline is the decrease in competition in the market as many buyers who needed
cashew nuts for this season have already completed their demand and are not currently participating in
auctions at the moment.
