Axel Iraduha 7796587 Sociological Toolkit#6 Demonstrating Media Literacy I can personally demonstrate media literacy through the use of critical analysis of different media platform which can then help me to undermine media biases and encourage the use of own knowledge before jumping into accepting information being provided through the media. I believe that the use of non-ambiguous opinion can increase awareness about different opinions which can then help to clearly understand what is true or wrong regarding a specific topic. Furthermore, the recognition of different ideas or views on a specific topic through the media can help to critically examine different sides of the story regarding the topic. For instance, when there is vote election in my country people normally like to analyse different opinions and debates before making their choice. The combination of critical review can encourage someone to understand different stances which can then increase someone knowledge through media. However, sometimes the media can try to promote wrong information to the public and this can result in someone's decision on a specific being mislead. They have been media for instance that intentionally misguided their public and this can highly support biases information which automatically affect the public. Since media literacy implies the use of someone's abilities such as own knowledge and experiences to understand media information, I believe that the use of own knowledge can help to demonstrate a good understanding of information being provided through media which can then help to understand the information being given. The use of own knowledge through the media has helped me a lot to correctly demonstrate if the information being given is wrong or not. The recognition of different opinions and the use of own knowledge can be a useful tool to use when dealing with media content and this can result in a good understanding of the information being provided. Media literacy requires the use of own judgement which implies the use of own knowledge and other opinions to clearly understand and accept the information being given. In concluding, I strongly believe that the use of own knowledge and the recognition of other opinions/views about a given topic can help to demonstrate a good understanding of the information being provided which can then expand someone’s knowledge in the long-run.
