The door has a breakaway panel installed that will release in a hard landing. A hard
landing can cause the floor to bend, and jam the door closed. If the breakaway panel
does not fully release, the flight crew can manually release the breakaway panel pins
on the flight compartment side.
An emergency egress placard describes how to separate lower break-away panel from
a jammed door to allow door opening and egress.
Note: The main evacuation route out of the cockpit leads through the cockpit door
into the cabin.

The following provides the B777- 300ER Cabin evacuation procedures recommended for
cabin crew to perform their emergency duties in different situations.
It is recognized that conflicting conditions in the operating environment can sometimes
cause cabin crew to deviate from recommended techniques. It is also impossible to
write procedures to cover all unusual and abnormal situations. Consequently, the
procedures recommended are never intended to replace the use of good judgment and
logic.

Deactivation of the warnings
The system may be reset by pushing the Lavatory Call indicator light/reset switch.

- a smoke alarm suppression cycle is initiated in the smoke detector
Note: If there is still smoke in the lavatory, the red Alarm Indicator Light on the smoke

When the smoke clears, the red Alarm Indicator Light extinguishes, the suppression
cycle ends, and the smoke detector is sensitive to smoke again. Continue to monitor

- During taxi, takeoff and landing the OFCR compartment must not be occupied.
- During taxi, takeoff and landing the OFCR compartment door must be closed.
- Smoking in the OFCR compartment is absolutely prohibited.
- Use of seat belts is mandatory.
- In case of smoke in the OFCR compartment actions have to be taken according to
the Cabin Fire Procedure.
Note: The OFCR emergency equipment will be checked by the flight crew.

smoke detectors
emergency equipment
fixed oxygen system
Use of the OFAR
When occupying the OFAR compartment the following restrictions must be observed:
- The OFAR compartment shall be used by crewmembers only.
- During flight the cabin manager shall inform the flight crew about start/end of OFAR
compartment use.
- When the aircraft is leaving the cruising altitude no crewmember shall remain in the
OFAR compartment. This has to be checked by the cabin manager.
- During taxi, takeoff and landing the OFAR compartment must not be occupied.
- Smoking in the OFAR compartment is absolutely prohibited.
- Use of seat belts is mandatory.
- In case of smoke in the OFAR compartment actions have to be taken according to

QUICK DONNING/FULL FACE MASK
The flight crew oxygen system uses quick-donning masks and regulators located at
each crew station.
The quick donning/full face mask can be used in case of decompression as well as
for smoke protection.
Each mask contains a mask mounted oxygen regulator and microphone.

Switch positions
RESET/TEST CONTROL
TEST: To be performed while mask is in stowed position.
- push RESET/TEST CONTROL
Oxygen is available when flow indicator shows yellow marker momentarily.
The microphone will be switched from Boom Mike to Mask Mike.
RESET: To be performed when mask has been removed.
- stow mask
- close mask stowage doors
- push RESET/TEST CONTROL
OXY ON flag will be retracted and oxygen supply is shut off. The Mask Mike
will be switched back to Boom Mike.
Note: If the mask is not stowed after an emergency use, it is absolutely necessary to
close the left stowage door and to push the RESET/TEST CONTROL. This is the
only way to switch back communication from Mask Mike to Boom Mike.
OXYGEN DILUTER LEVER
NORMAL-N: Oxygen/cabin air mixture is available, flow during inhalation only
(automatically adjusted to altitude).
100%:
Pure oxygen is available, flow during inhalation only.
EMERGENCY KNOB
TEST:
To be performed while mask is in stowed position.
- push EMERGENCY KNOB and RESET/TEST CONTROL, constant
pure oxygen flow is available.
EMERGENCY: Rotate EMERGENCY KNOB into direction of arrow, constant pure
oxygen flow is available.
.
Note: Rotating the EMERGENCY KNOB provided a sufficient amount of oxygen flow
into the face piece to protect the user from smoke and toxic gases, and also
prevents the lens from fogging.
Note: With the EMERGENCY KNOB in EMERGENCY communication problems may
occur. They can be prevented by switching off the oxygen flow momentarily.

CABIN OXYGEN SUPPLY
The fixed oxygen system in the cabin, the OFCR and OFAR are independent of the one
in the cockpit.
In case of a decompression in the cabin oxygen will be supplied by oxygen masks.
The oxygen is produced chemically by oxygen generators.
Location of the oxygen masks
The masks are located:
- in the cabin ceiling above the passenger seats
(with at least one mask more than available seats)
- in the lavatories
- above the cabin crew stations
- above each bunk and seat in OFCR
- above each bunk in OFAR
System activation
The system is activated automatically or electrically.
Automatically - if cabin altitude exceeds the release altitude. .
Electrically - PASS OXYGEN switch on the cockpit overhead panel in ON position.
If cabin altitude exceeds approximately 10,000 feet or the passenger oxygen system is
manually deployed by the flight crew, the following automatic events take place:
- cabin lights come on full bright
- five HI chimes sound
- FASTEN SEAT BELT and ELECTRONIC DEVICES OFF signs illuminate and
corresponding chimes sound
- the DECOMPRESSION pop-up window appears on the cabin management system
displays wherever one of these screens is displayed:
- CABIN LIGHTING
- ENTRY WAY & CROSS AISLE LIGHTS
These events warn the cabin crew that a possible decompression is about to occur. In
crew rest area the cabin depressurization is additionally indicated by a continuous alarm
horn sound.
Note: Cabin crew must sit down, fasten their seat belts, and prepare to put oxygen
masks on.
Activation of the system causes the masks to drop and triggers the following Chinese,
English and Japanese announcement:
"Attention, your attention please, put the mask over your nose and mouth, fasten
your seat belt, this is emergency descent!"

Activation and duration of oxygen flow
When pulling one of the masks or flag (if applicable) down the firing pin that is connected
to the lanyard will be pulled. This action activates the generator and causes all masks
at the generator to drop. Each connected mask will be supplied with oxygen for about
22 minutes.
A mixture of oxygen and cabin air will be inhaled through the mask, and the oxygen flow
cannot be shut off.
Caution: The oxygen generators produce heat when activated. The heat may cause
temporary fumes and/or a slight odor.

Manual unlocking
If the masks fail to drop from a PSU, ASU (Attendant Service Unit), and LSU (Lavatory
Service Unit), the cover of the oxygen compartment can be opened manually by
releasing the door latch. The latch can be released by inserting a hair pin or a thin rod
into the hole of the compartment cover.

is equipped with oxygen masks with pull flags.
