From the Classroom of Mr. Daniel Bonnett Riverside High School Upper Level Mathematics Teacher Room B37 Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 To: all students & guardians in Mr. Bonnett’s classes Happy New Year folks!! It is the second half of the 2022-2023 school year and I am planning for us to finish STRONG!!! A couple of concerns and changes need to be addressed for this semester to be a HUGE SUCCESS!!! For ALL Students & Guardians: The use of cell phones needs to completely stop in my classroom. iPads need to be fully charged and ready to take the photos that they need for notes, classwork, exam submissions. I have noticed too many folks in these upper-level mathematics classes try to use technology apps to solve their problems for them without the students learning actually how to complete them. This ends today!! If a student feels like they HAVE to use photomath, brainly, or any other CHEAT APP out there, they do not need to be a representative of my classroom. Whenever there is a test assigned in the classroom, ALL PHONES will need to be put in the “Phone Basket” at the beginning of class and NOT be taken back out until AFTER their test is completed. SAT/ACT Test Prep by Bonnett will be offered to you on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting next week from 7:30am-8:10am. This is voluntary, BUT if you are wanting to improve your score/chances and get to the college/university of your dream; this test-taking strategy will improve your scores in the mathematics sections. For ALL AP students (Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Physics 1) This is your time to shine and prove that you can do this on your own also. If you are wanting to get that 4 or 5 on the exams, you will need to budget your time wisely and allow yourself to do some self-studying and reviewing on a weekly basis. You have access to all of the AP Classroom for these classes. Utilize them. For ALL 11th graders I can’t force you, but I want to strongly emphasis once again that it will be your best interest to take the SAT test on March 11th (registration deadline Feb 10th), if you haven’t done so already this school year. I know that over half of you have taken my advice on this so far. If you want to better your score, starting next week, every Tuesday and Thursday that when school is in session, I will be providing SAT/ACT test prep tutoring for mathematics from 7:30am-8:10am in my classroom. If you come and make a habit out of it, I guarantee you that your scores will improve. You won’t gain anything out of it if you just do it here and there…It’s about the constant practice and little things that you need to look out for, that I will be showing you. For ALL 10th / 9th graders As like the 11th graders, I strongly suggest that you also take the SAT by the end of the school year or during the summer (June 3rd is the last SAT). That way you already have an idea of where you are at on the national standardized test and then next school year, I can prepare you to earn an even better score. Please sign and date the following: I, _________________________________, understand what is expected of me in Mr. Bonnett’s class for the second semester. I understand this in order for myself to be success, I need to ask questions and do my OWN WORK (not from someone else or an app). I am interested in coming in early Tuesdays and Thursdays, to work on my test prep for my SAT/ACT from 730am-810am. I understand that this is voluntary, but if deciding to do this, I will make a consistent effort in bettering my score by attending frequently. _____________________________________________ Student’s Signature ___________________________ Date ______________________________________________ Parent’s Signature ___________________________ Date
