What do you think went well during the lab? What could you have improved?
In my opinion, everything went well during the lab other than one thing. That one thing that did not go
that well is identifying the scent of the propan-1-ol + ethanoic acid. My team and I took a while until we
were able to correctly identify the smell. Next time we could have improved by diluting the mixture
more so we can smell the fruity scent better and not the acetone undertone we were mostly smelling.
2. Did you feel like you were completely aware of every step you were doing?
I believe that I was completely aware of every step that I was doing, as the lab went smoothly, and
everything was correct. Also, throughout the lab, I was not confused about what exactly I was doing,
which indicates that I was aware of every step.
3. What will you do in the future to make sure that you can be as focused as you can during a
formal lab?
In the future, to be focused during a formal lab I will come to the lab prepared. Meaning, that I would
have already read the lab instructions and understood them, so I don’t waste any time being confused. I
will also not cause any habal and only focus on my work. I will also record all my observations once I saw
them during the experiment, and not after finishing the lab because I would have already forgotten
most of what I observed.
4. If you would give your lab partners a level between 1 to 4, what would you give them? Give a
level for each of your partners and explain your motivation.
Imran: 4, he worked effectively and recorded the observation while I and Omar were conducting the lab.
He also voiced his opinions to us.
Omar: 4, he worked effectively and was at every step. He also knew what he was doing and gave
everyone a chance to try a step.
Overall, I would give all of us 4 out of 4 because there was no habal during the lab.
5. In terms of organization/preparation/explanation of this lab, is there anything you would like to
see added or removed?
In terms of the organization/preparation/explanation of this lab, I do not think that there is anything
that could be added ore removed.
