Program Background and Rationale
Rationale
Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize
their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health
and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships and
shape the world we live in. Mental health is a basic human right. And it is crucial to personal, community and
socio-economic development.
Mental health is more than the absence of mental disorders. It exists on a complex continuum, which is
experienced differently from one person to the next, with varying degrees of difficulty and distress and potentially
very different social and clinical outcomes.
Mental health conditions include mental disorders and psychosocial disabilities as well as other mental
states associated with significant distress, impairment in functioning, or risk of self-harm. People with mental
health conditions are more likely to experience lower levels of mental well-being, but this is not always or
necessarily the case.
To address this concern, the Department of Education, Division of Bohol, District of Loboc Bugho
Elementary School and Jimili-an Primary School is conducting a cluster -based capability building strengthening
mental health in accordance to DepEd Memorandum No. 0662 series of 2022, Dep Ed Memo No. 869 s 2021
and DepEd Memorandum No. 386 series of 2020.
Objectives:
1. Strengthening school head & teachers’ capacity in handling learners with family problem & crises
affecting mental health towards poor learning performance & violent behaviors.
2. Share experiences that may colleagues and learners to cope up with life’s conflict & crises to stay
mentally healthy.
3. Expose teachers to relaxation & games. And recreation that boost a stress mental health

Program Description
This program aims to strengthen the capacity of school head, teachers in handling learners
with problem crises at home & conflicts at home affecting school performance through workshops,
exchange knowledge, sharing experiences and best practices applied

The target participants 8 teachers and 1 school head.


Impact:
Acquire & equip school head, teachers with the skill to handle learners facing family crisis
& conflicts affecting behavior & learning performance


and treatment resources)
