Reporting and Responding According to the data, I found three sources that impressed me. First of all, the cultural differences. This book helps people understand and navigate different cultures in different countries. For example, Americans will add three positive sentences before anything negative. The French, the Dutch, the Israelis and the Germans cut to the chase; Latin American and Asian hierarchies are entrenched; Scandinavians believe that the best bosses are just one in a crowd. We need a lot of teamwork in university, and in most cases, team members come from different countries. This resource can help us to reduce the negative effects of cultural differences. The second one is environment perspectives. This resource is talking about recycling old products and turn them into usable resources for reuse. The author wants people to build a resilient economy with creativity and innovation. This can not only save limited resources but also be more environmentally friendly. The third resource is about gender perspectives. This resource is talking about personal bias. As the author said in the article “Personal implicit biases, which affect our conscious thinking, and we all make snap judgments about people or situations”. This resource shows the impact of personal biases on others. Relating As an international student, cultural differences become one of the biggest difficulties which I faced. Just like the book said that Asian hierarchies are entrenched. My English level made me feel inferior, so that I lost many opportunities to communicate with local students. It also made my team assignments difficult, especially if I was the only Asian in the team. I still live in my own social circle, making friends with students from the same country, rather than meeting more students from other countries. Environment perspectives is not relating with my study but is closely related to my life. When I was a child, my teacher told us the importance of renewable energy. The use of renewable energy has many benefits for people and the environment, such as improving the environment, increasing fuel diversity, ensuring a stable energy supply, and promoting regional economic development. And the use of fossil fuels -- coal, oil and gas -- to generate electricity causes air pollution, consumes and pollutes water, harms plants and animals, produces toxic waste and contributes to global warming. There is something relate gender perspectives in my life. For example, when one of the team members fails to complete his task in the group work, I will distrust him in the next assignment instead of giving him a chance to change. I think it's a personal bias. Reasoning After I read books about cultural differences, I get the cultural characteristics of people in different countries. What’s more, I understand how cultural differences affect teamwork and how to reduce the negative effects of cultural differences. In the meeting, guest speaker Gillian Mulvale said: “creating safer braver spaces, collaboration agreements mentorship, flexibility, recognition, and compensation can ensure meaningful engagement.” I think a proper understanding of cultural differences can help meet these conditions. In the resource Environment perspectives, many examples are given to help us understand how our waste build capital rather than reduce it. It helped me further understand the value of reusable resources, and I have a deeper understanding of it. After reading the gender perspectives, the insights gained in the material are valuable to you as a business student, because I also gained a deeper understanding of prejudice and stereotypes. I learned about their damage and impact. In the meeting, guest speaker Hanlyeh ask us: “are you aware of any stereotypes you may have for individuals belong to specific groups?” I think I am one of them, I recognize these unconscious biases that influence my decisions. Sometimes it makes me make wrong judgments and decisions, so I will try my best to reducing my unconscious biases in the future. Reconstructing In the survey report, the main focus of the 3GR0 Leadership Assessment is the difference between Shareholder‐ism and Stakeholder‐ism. And I got 3.9, and I am a bit leaner towards stakeholder-ism. These three resources and guest speakers said is relating to the values and social identity. In the report, it shows although values and social identity are not the only factors that influence the priority we give to stakeholders or shareholders when deciding, they are important to consider when considering the ethics and impact of our decisions. Being a leader requires making many difficult decisions and making informed decisions can help to ensure effective leadership. So, after learnt these three resources, this reflection influence will how I plan to act in a work setting, I can do better in cultural differences, and know more about environment perspectives and gender perspectives. I am better able to deal with the impact of cultural differences and improve our efficiency in teamwork and have more knowledge about reusable resources and how to eliminate or reduce the impact of personal biases. I believe that this new information and experience will influence your future leadership style and actions, making me become a better leader.
