Patient: XYZ Sport: Basketball Visual Skills to be enhanced - Eye hand coordination Depth perception EYE HAND COORDINATION Procedure: Marsden Ball w/ bunting (level 1) - Suspend the ball on the ceiling positioned at nose level. - Patient should stand 15”-20” away from the ball. - Swing the ball.Sit - While the ball swinging back and forth. The patient must keep the ball moving smoothly without increasing or decreasing the swinging distance by hitting it gently with a small stick or paper towel as it starts to slow down. - Perform the activity in one minute. Goal: (The patient should be able to hit the bail accurately and maintain the swinging distance without increasing or decreasing its movement in one minute.) (Assuming level 1 goal is already met, move to level 2) Marsden Ball w/ bunting and bean bag (level 2) - Perform the same procedure with a bean bag place on the patient’s head Goal: (The patient should be able to perform at the same level of proficiency in level 1 goal without dropping the bean bag on the head) (Assuming level 2 goal is already met, move to level 3) Marsden Ball w/ bunting, bean bag and metronome (level 3) - Perform the same procedure in level 2 with a bean bag place on the patient’s head while hitting the ball in sync with the metronome set at 20 beats per minute. DEPTH PERCEPTION Procedure: Pointer in the straw (level 1) - Have the patient sit comfortably, in a good posture, at a desk or table. Place patch on one eye or OS. - The vision therapy helper moves the straw as close to open eye as possible until it becomes blurred and move the straw again until becomes clear and hold that position. - First position is to hold it in a vertical or y axis position. - The patient then holds a pointer in one hand (start at the dominant hand) like a spear near his/her ear in horizontal position. - The patient aims at the straw and inserts the pointer in the straw at least 10-15 times in one minute. Then after do it again on the other hand. - After which do it again on the other eye. Repeat the procedure. - After the first position. Change it to the second position of the straw to x axis and repeat the procedure. - After the second position. Change it to the third position of the straw to z axis and repeat the procedure. Goal: (The patient should be able to insert the pointer into the straw 10 to 15 times accurately in one minute without undershooting, overshooting or trembling with steady fixation of the eye on the hole of the straw.) (Assuming level 1 goal is already met, move to level 2) Pointer in the straw with metronome (level 2) - Perform the same procedure but this time the straw is constantly changing in a different axis position after each insertion. Goal: (The patient should be able to insert the pointer into the straw 10 to 15 times accurately in one minute without undershooting, overshooting or trembling with steady fixation of the eye on the hole of the straw.) Pointer in the straw with metronome (level 3) - Perform the same procedure in level 2 while inserting the pointer in the straw in sync with the metronome set at 30 beats per minute. Goal: (The patient should be able to perform at the same level of proficiency in level 2 goal while in perfect synchrony with the beat of the metronome at 30 beats per minute.)
