1 Arthur Rei P. Barrera Ms. Lani Fe F. Advincula English for Academic and Professional Purposes 9 March 2020 Field Report A CASE STUDY ABOUT THE DIFFICULTIES OF STUDENT-PILOTS IN FLYING IN AND OUT OF SUBIC BAY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT In order for the student-pilots to properly fly a plane, they had to do different different set-ups in a specific plane. According to them, as long as they are seated properly, they have good visibility of their surroundings, they can easily reach the controls, and their seats are not so stiff then they can fly the aircraft smoothly. Lots of obstacles affect the flight of pilot like the environmental e nvironmental factors, traffic, and others. Weather is one of the major causes and explicit factor of aviation accidents and incidents. In unsuitable weather conditions, such as heavy rain and thunderstorms, it is very difficult for a pilot to fly an aircraft. The participants mentioned the difficulty of flying over mountains due to the number of weather phenomena they experience. They have stated that the unevenness of the surfaces results to winds called mountain breezes. The turbulence experienced by pilots from these ccirculations irculations is not significant to themselves, but they can become b ecome hazardous in combination to other factors like mountains, valleys, and low visibility. 2 Another environmental factor stated is is tthe he uneven heating of land beneath the ai airr the the pilot is flying. Uneven heating of surfaces will result to air turbulences that may affect the balance of the plane. Mountainous terrains or other terrains that have uneven or different altitudes altitudes will also result to differences of temperature of surfaces. In terms of the airport, it already had undergone a lot of changes and improvements. Back then when the Americans had occupied the Subic Bay as a military base, It definitely supports planes, but as time pass by longer and larger modern aircraft were introduced. This limits limits the capabilities of the airport to operate. Aside from this It is also looks like an aircraft carrier from above. To deal with all the diff difficulties iculties that that the participant are are going to face is har hard. d. Being able to overcome those and still manage to properly p roperly perform their task is an indication that they are dedicated and they keep kee p in mind all the lessons that they learned from their past experiences. For the student-pilots who are experiencing difficulties would seem to be hard to put into mind that it is tolerable if they do something incorrectly because b ecause it implies that it could be both a lesson and an experience to remember for the student-pilots to properly execute their job. As stated by one of the Participant P articipant that even after the flying school, there is still much more to learn, and they should not stop learning because they still have a lot to experience. 3
