The research study entitled “the role of innovation in the relationship between digitalisation and
economic and financial performance. A company -level research” was authored by AntonioFernandez-Portillo, Manuel Almodóvar – Gonzales, Mari Cruz Sanchez – Escobedo and Jose Luis
Coca- Perez. Antonio-Fernandez-Portillo was a professor of department of financial economics
and accounting at the university of Extremadura and he studies Anthropology, Political Science
and Archaeology. He was an executive director of the Emturin 2020 research group and also a
researcher of GEM Extremadura. Manuel Almodóvar – Gonzales was also a professor of
department of financial economy and accounting at University of Extremadura. Mari Cruz Sanchez
– Escobedo professor of department of financial economy and accounting degree in actuarial and
financial sciences at university of Extremadura. Lastly, Jose Luis Coca- Perez an executive with
company position three companies in the following provinces: Caceres and Madrid, which
includes his professional career and the type of position he holds or held in the different companies
in which he was part, either as company, executive, administrator or other type of position.
This paper focused on how innovation affects the relationship between the digitalization of the
company and its economic financial performance and also reviewing the cause – effect situation
of this relationship. The research problem being addressed the impact of ICT technologies to
business performance is not homogenous amongst firms. To develop this issue the researchers
examines the role of innovation in the relationship between business performance and business
digitalisation.

affects the relationship between the digitalization of the company and its economic financial
