ICEL Emergency Lighting ONE DAY Training Course - £130 + VAT
This one day course has been subsidised by ADI-GARDINER, and details the essential aspects of BS 5266 Parts 1, 7 and 8.
BS 5266 Part 1 was revised in 2005 and the course includes this material with particular reference to the new test and servicing
recommendations.
The course is split into sections with a test after each, with those passing qualifying for an ICEL certificate. Delegates will also put
into practice some of the course material and mark up a plan with appropriate emergency lighting.
SECTIONS:
Section A Background and legislation for emergency lighting.
Section B Exit signs and illuminance requirements.
Section C Maintained lighting, special requirements, labelling,
recharge times and approval certification.
Section D Design procedures for emergency lighting, including
integrity and spacings.
Section E High risk task areas, response times, correction factors and conversions.
Section F Disability glare, installation, testing, service and maintenance for
emergency lighting systems.
This course qualifies for 6.5 hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
Ideally delegates will have been employed in a role that has given them adequate experience of emergency lighting systems (at least one year).

Introduction
Changes to British Standards along with the
introduction of the CFOA policy and the soon
to be launched Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety)
Order have/will bring about changes in the
British Fire Industry, not least the overriding
requirement for companies and personnel
working within the industry to not only be
competent but also to prove their competence.
ADI-GARDINER Fire Division has entered a
joint initiative with three of the Fire Industries
leading bodies to promote the “Proof of
Competence Roadmap CD-ROM” to
ADI-GARDINER Fire Customers.
Overview of the scheme
ADI-GARDINER Fire has produced a “Proof of
Competence Roadmap” CD-ROM sponsored
by FIA, BAFE and BSI.
The CD-ROM contains full details of schemes run by each of the three trade bodies as well as a training
programme and application form for the third party certification scheme ‘SP203’, all of which is presented
in the form of a time-table (Roadmap).
The scheme involves customers/companies purchasing the “Proof of Competence” Roadmap CD-ROM.
Your ADI-GARDINER Regional Fire Sales Manager will then sit down with you and assess your training to
date and your future training requirements, planning this into the time-table (Roadmap) and booking
courses as appropriate.
As your company progresses through its training programme it will build up the CD-ROM folder with
certificates of training courses sat and passed, thereby building up a record of “Proof of Competence”.
