Description of activities on PYP Sports Day Note: All Kidder activities are not awarding as it is designed for participation and enjoyment. Grade 1 to Grade 6 activities are to be awarded with points. Points will be awarded based on the positional order (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) 1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points, 3rd = 2 points and 4th = 1 point. Dressing up: Participants: 2 (1 boy and 1 girl) in each color for both boys & girls category Materials: - PE kits, under pants and singlets, socks, sneakers. Description: - Competitors will start and end at the same point in this event. Before the start competitors will dress up with their under pants, singlets and socks and report at the starting point. The rest of the clothes will be placed at 50 meters in front of them. Then at the command the competitor runs to the cloth and dress up then run back to the starting point. Filling the bottle relay: Participants: 8 competitors (6 students, 1 parent and 1 teacher) from each color. Materials: 8 plastic cups, 4 (1.5 litres) plastic bottle, buckets, and hurdle flights/cones. Description: All competitors will line up on the same lane with 10 metres interval holding their empty plastic cup. The bottle will be placed 10 metres away from the last (8) competitor. The 1st competitor will stand next to the water at the starting and finish line with the empty plastic cup. At a command the 1st competitor fetch the water with the cup and run and pour it into the next (2nd) competitor’s cup and that order till the last competitor receive the water and pour it into the bottle. This action is repeated until the bottle is filled up and the filled bottle is transferred over to the finish line from the last competitor through to the 1 st competitor. Position and points will be awarded based the order filled bottle getting to the starting and finishing line. 25 metres sack race relay: Participants: 4 (2 students, 1 parent and 1 teacher) competitors from each color for both boys and girls category. Materials: 4 cocoa sacks, and cones. Descriptions: All competitors in the same color line up on the lane at 25m intervals on a 100m stretched. 1st runners at the starting point will stand in front of a sack facing the finishing line. At a command the competitor will grab the sack and put both feet in it and either run or hop or walk to the next (2nd) competitor and hand it over by coming out and he or she will enter and do same to the next till the last runner crosses the finish line with both feet still in the sack. Balloon/ball passing: Participants: All boys and girls participating with parent support. Materials: 2 Dodge balls, cones and a basket. Descriptions: Divide both boys/girls into two equal team with + or – 1. In each category, the participants line up with back facing the finishing line with legs shoulder width apart and arm length to the next team mate. The first person on the starting line will hold a soft ball with both hands and bend down, then pass it between his/her legs to the next team mate at a command then run to join the line in front towards the finishing line. Which the team mate will receive it and also do same till the ball gets to the finishing line where the last person will put it in the basket. Parents will assist them during the activity by reminding them what to do during the activity. Throwing & Picking the tennis ball: Participants: All boys and girls performing in their category with parent support. Materials: Tennis balls, and cones Description: Competitors stand next to the cones with their parents holding a tennis ball. In a throwing standing position with the command all will throw the tennis ball as far as possible and immediately run to fetch it and run back to their parent. Each category will have 3 trials. Obstacle race: Participants: Students (2 boys and 2 girls from each color) competing, and parent assisting at the station. Materials: Used car tyres, bench, hurdles (big and small) Description: Competitors line up in their respective lanes with obstacles at 20/25 m interval from the starting line and 5 m intervals between obstacles and 20/25 m from the last obstacle to the finishing line. Shuttle race relay: Participants: 4 from each color in both category (2 students, 1 parent and 1 teacher) Materials: cones, used car tyre, small cones. Description: At the starting line, 4 small cones on each lane with the first runner, the other 3 runners will stand 25 m intervals next to a car tyre with the distance between the 4 th runner and the finishing line 25 m. At a command, the 1st runner pick up a cone and run to put it inside the car tyre for the 2nd runner to pick and also send it to the 3rd runner who also send it to the 4th runner then the 4th runner send it to the finishing line. This is repeated till all cones is transferred from the starting point to the finishing line. Musical cone dance: Participants: 5 (3 students, 1 parent and 1 teacher from each color) competitors. Materials: Cones for marking a circle, PA system to play music. Description: Cones arranged in a circle form with number of cones less than the number of competitors by (- 1) . All competitors will be dancing round the circle when the music is playing and stop next to a cone immediately the music stops. The competitor who did not get to stand next the the cone is out of the race. Then the music will be on again following same process till one competitor is left. Parachute race: Participants: 4 (2 boys and 2 girls from each color) competitors. 1 Parent/teacher to assist at the starting line and the finishing line. Materials: 8 pieces of TIS bed cloth, cones to mark lanes. Description: Over 60 m distance, boys and girls competitors take turn to run from the starting point to the finishing line with the bed cloth tied around the waist and the other two end-edges held with both hands more than shoulder width above the head. 50 m Sprint: Participants: 8 competitors in each category (4 boys, 4 girls) and 4 teachers/parent in each category (1 from each color). 4 officials. Materials: Cones to mark the lane, and clapper to start the race. Description: At the starting line boys, girls and teachers/parent will compete by sprinting to the finishing line at a command from the starter. Positions will be awarded. Team walker: Participants: 5 from each color (2 boys, 1 male teacher/parent, 1 girl, 1 female teacher/parent). Materials: Cones to mark lanes and Team walker boards. Description: Team will compete against each other by walking with their feet on the board over a distance of 20 metres at a command from the start line to the finish line. Tag of Peace: Participants: Teachers vs Parents; 10 in a team (5 males and 5 females). Materials: Single 20 metres recommended rope. Description: The team stands opposite each other with the demarcation lines between and in front of the first person next to the centre line. At a command the team pulls the opponent from the other end to their end over the centre line wins the contest. There shall be 3 trials and the team that wins 2 times is the winner.
