Build Your Model Now that you’ve fully thought out the needs of your biosphere, you must build a model to present to the investment team. You can use any materials you need to represent the parts of your biosphere, as you will be given an opportunity to describe your biosphere to your audience. Your model should include: ❑ Human spaces Where do humans live? Where do they work? What do they do for fun? Where do they go for their food? ❑ Farming spaces Where is food for the inhabitants farmed? Does your biosphere include farm animals? Where are they kept? ❑ Wilderness spaces Does your biosphere include forests or wild space? What kinds of biomes does your biosphere include? Where are these located? You will also need to be prepared to discuss the following topics with your audience: ❑ Number of human and animal inhabitants your biosphere is expected to support ❑ How enough food will be provided to the human and animal inhabitants ❑ How enough water will be provided to the human and animal inhabitants ❑ How enough oxygen will be provided to the human and animal inhabitants ❑ How your natural biomes will be balanced ❑ What jobs and fun activities can be people do in your biome? Sections of our Classwide Biosphere. Green House: Must include at least 8 species of plants. Each teammate is responsible for growing 2 species of plants and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) Farm / Animal Husbandry Must include at least 6 species of animals. Each teammate is responsible for housing 1-2 species of animals and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) How will you care for and grow animals to support our community? Biome 1: Temperate Forest Must include at least 4 species of plants and 4 species of animals. Each teammate is responsible for growing 1 species of plant, 1 species of animal and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) Biome 2: Freshwater Lake Must include at least 4 species of plants and 4 species of animals. Each teammate is responsible for growing 1 species of plant, 1 species of animal and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) Biome 3: Marsh / Swamp Must include at least 4 species of plants and 4 species of animals. Each teammate is responsible for growing 1 species of plant, 1 species of animal and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) Biome 4: Tropical Rainforest Must include at least 4 species of plants and 4 species of animals. Each teammate is responsible for growing 1 species of plant, 1 species of animal and describing at least 1 abiotic factor within your model ( water , temperature, humidity, space…) Technosphere Must include at least 8 components of technology that our biosphere will need. Each student is responsible for including at least 2 components to the technosphere and describing how this will benefit the biosphere as a whole. (examples: solar panels, communications…) Rec Center Must include at least 8 components of leisure and recreation that our biosphere will need. Each student is responsible for including at least 2 components to the Rec Center and describing how this will benefit the biosphere as a whole. Brainstorming Area: What section was your table assigned? What are your ideas for components that you could include in your model and how do you think you will construct them? 1.
