x. Project-Cooking Video

advertisement
Project: Cooking Video - Sweet od Salty
Requirements: Project must…
 Have no more than three people per group
 Be at least 2 minutes long but no more than 5 minutes long
 EVERYONE must have a SIGNIFICANT ROLE in the actual video (not just the editing of the video or the
introduction, but in the cooking as well). Not everyone needs to speak, but everyone needs to appear in the
video. You will not get credit for the project unless you recognizably appear in the cooking portion at least
once! Alternatively, you can prove your participation by narrating a large portion of the video if you are
strongly opposed to a visual film presence.
 Show some prep-work (dicing, mincing, etc.) OR tips for success (at least two!)
 Show some actual cooking (sautéing, frying, boiling, etc.) AND describe the process
 Include the recipe (displayed written)
 Have 3-6 different aspects relating to Food Science, explicitly stated (don’t assume we see it!)
Aspects of food
science
Single person
2 food safety
1 physical change, 2
chemistry reactions
Pair
3 food safety
2 physical changes, 3
chemistry reactions
Group of three
4 food safety
3 physical changes, 4
chemistry reactions
 Use a recipe with 8 or more ingredients that shows some complexity
o Note: Beware of using spices to “count” as ingredients! Making an omelet (egg, milk, salt, pepper,
cheese, diced onions, diced peppers, and minced garlic), for example, only has 6 ingredients and is
not very complex – 50%
 Show the final product, attractively plated
 Have clear, high-quality video and sound
o Videos that are difficult to see, difficult to hear, lack music or visual effects, and/or are boring to
watch will earn significantly lower scores

 Be thoughtful about editing so that this portion is not boring!
