Zipline is a logistics support company that designs, manufactures and operates delivery drones. The
company is based in America and it uses its expertise in automation and robotics to provide medical
supplies to areas around the world, primarily focusing on the remote areas.
The new zipline model is more robust and efficient than all its predecessors and can travel at a ground
breaking speed of approximately 128 kilometers an hour. All these new enhancements mean that the
zipline drone is attracting many new potential investors to the game. According to an article by MIT
Technology review they include: “Amazon, which has been testing its Prime Air drone delivery service
for years in the UK and elsewhere, and Project Wing, part of Alphabet’s secretive X lab, which is using its
drones to deliver pharmaceuticals in a pilot project in Australia.’’
the company has plenty of experience of providing servies out of ‘line of sight’, especially in Rwanda
where the drone has flown over 300,000 kilometer and over 4000 flights. According to the company and
many articles, it can now be said that the company is taking measures to expand into many other
countries including Africa, Tanzania, Japan, Ghana and Jumia amongst many other companies.
