Zero Conditional Guessing Game

In this zero conditional game, students complete conditional
sentences and then play a guessing game based on what they
wrote.
Procedure
Focus
Give each student a copy of the worksheet.
Zero conditional
Aim
To complete zero
conditional sentences
and then play a guessing
game based on the
sentences.
Tell the students to write their normal reactions to the situations
listed on the worksheet by completing the zero conditional
sentences.
When they have finished, pair the students up with someone they
are not sitting next to.
Tell the students not to show their worksheets to each other.
Preparation
The students take it in turns to read only the part they have
written in each sentence.
Make one copy of the
worksheet for each
student.
Their partner then has three chances to guess which sentence the
words came from.
Level
If their partner guesses right the first time, he/she gets three
points. On the second try, he/she gets two points. On the third
try, he/she receives one point.
Pre-intermediate (A2)
Time
35 minutes
The students then swap roles. This process continues back and
forth until all the sentences have been used.
The student with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

B. In pairs, take it in turns to choose a sentence and then read only the part you have
written. Your partner has three chances to guess which sentence the words came
from.
If your partner guesses right the first time, he/she gets three points. On the second try, he/she
gets two points. On the third try, he/she receives one point. Continue taking turns until all the
sentences have been used.
Example:
A: I go to see my friend.
B: I think that when you want to know the latest gossip, you go to see
your friend.
A: No, I don’t.
B: Hmm. If you feel bored, you go to see your friend.
A: Maybe that’s true, but this sentence is different.
B: Aha, I know! If you have a difficult personal problem, you go to see your friend.
A: That’s right! You score one point.
