Nelson Mandela. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born on July 18th !918 in South Africa. He attended his primary studies in Qunu and completed his junior certificate at Clarkekbury boarding. He later joined Healdtown and excelled. He would late on study Bachelor in Arts degree and later enrolled to study law in University of South Africa. He was increasingly getting involved in politics by 1942 and in 1944 he joined the only existing African party; ANC Youth League which he helped in its formation. Nelson Mandela through struggles such as detention, political exiles and other hardships which he underwent nurtured him to become the first black head of state. He was elected as the president and served between 1994 and 1999. He was apolitical leader, a philanthropist and an anti-apartheid leader. The following are some if the reason why Nelson Mandela will be remembered. Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid leader. His government was mainly focused with destroying apartheid government. Apartheid government mainly focused in racial discrimination which was enforced by the reigning government. As a scholar of law, he helped in doing away with this from of government through the various legal process. Mandela was one of the first black South African lawyers and helped in advocating for the rights of minority in South Africa. He succeeded in tearing down the apartheid government. He would the later on be rewarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for successfully eliminating the apartheid government in South Africa. This later translated to the laying down a foundation for democracy style of leadership. Nelson Mandela helped in fighting HIV/AIDS in South Africa and inspired the world at large. In the year 2000 a quarter of the South African population aged between 15 and 45 years had been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. Over the same period, close to 4 million people had been affected by the disease and witnessed incalculable stigma from various people around them. Nelson Mandela put up bold and stringent measure to fight against HIV/AIDS which was high in prevalence in South Africa by that time. In the year 2000 he made a ground breaking speech during the international AIDS conference which helped in changing people’s perspective on the disease. He would then go further to form foundation which was solely focused on fighting HIV/AIDS and to reduce cases of stigmatization. Nelson Mandela was one of the most influential leaders apart from being a profoundly good human and a courageous man. He is honored across the world as a champion for human dignity and human freedom for peace and constitutive reconciliation. He believed in equal treatment for everybody and spearheaded the message which promoted equality, forgiveness and brotherhood. Nelson Mandela will always be remembered as a leader who was willing to give upon his own life for the sake of freedom of hi people. His struggle and leadership for freedom equality, truth, love. peace and justice re some the major thing which make m admire him as a hero across the globe. In conclusion, it is important to note that throughout his life, Nelson Mandela inspired many through his many life struggles, words ad even deeds. This is because he was known as a leader who walked the walk and talked the talk, boldly and without fear or intimidation. He was unlike other leaders who manipulated their beliefs and ideologies for selfish gain and witness their people suffer more. Unfortunately, Nelson Mandela passed on 5th December 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
