WebAssign Access is Required:
You do not specifically need a hardcopy of the text if you purchase Web Assign
access since that will come with an interactive textbook. You can purchase an
access code online through the WebAssign website(Links to an external site.) or at
the bookstore (Links to an external site.).
With the WebAssign code or the Cengage Unlimited code, you will have access to

videos. Homework Review quizzes will be collected using the WebAssign
program. General homework assignments will not be graded.
Calculator: A graphing calculator is required. A TI-84+ calculator is recommended.
Scanner: To submit assignments, you will need to scan and upload files. CamScanner,
DocScanner, and TinyScanner are great apps that are easy to use to scan multiple

Graded Activities
Homework:



Completion of homework on a regular basis is crucial to your success in this course.
Suggested homework problems are available from the textbook and in the
WebAssign course.
Although these assignments are not graded, it is beneficial for you to complete the
appropriate assignments before attempting the quizzes and tests. As your

instructor, I would suggest that you complete a minimum of half of the problems
listed for each assignment. If you do only part of the assignment, choose a variety
of problems: some easy ones, some medium ones, and some hard ones.
You are encouraged to seek assistance from the instructor if you encounter
difficulties with the assigned problems or visit the online math tutoring; see Student
Support Services.
Exams and Quizzes:








You must complete each exam within the time allotted.
Every quiz score will be used in the computation of your overall course grade unless
otherwise specified.
All exam scores will be used in computation of your overall course grade unless
otherwise specified.
The lowest exam score will be replaced with the final exam percentage if it is
beneficial to your overall course grade.
No make-up exams or quizzes will be given. If you miss an exam or a quiz, you will
earn a zero for that assignment.
Exams and most quizzes will be accessed and submitted using PDF format through
Canvas.
Failure to take the Final Exam will result in a grade of F for the course.
For Fall 2021, exams and quizzes will not be proctored, but they will be timed.

Course Policies (Valencia)
In this course, you will experience a variety of learning activities to help you meet the
course learning outcomes. To have the most meaningful learning experience, I believe
your experiences matter, and it is important to connect what we learn to your "real
world." This means that active participation, timely submission of assignments, and
ongoing dialogue are necessary for you to be successful.
Attendance Policy:
This is an online course, available 24/7, managed through Canvas. You must have
access to the Internet (available on all Valencia campuses) to complete the course

Withdrawal Policy:

Per Valencia Policy 4-07 (Academic Progress, Course Attendance and Grades, and
Withdrawals), a student who withdraws from class before the withdrawal deadline of
November 3, 2021, for Full Term classes will receive a grade of “W”. A student is
not permitted to withdraw after the withdrawal deadline. A faculty member may
withdraw a student up to the beginning of the final exam period for violation of the
class attendance policy. A student who is withdrawn by faculty for violation of the
class attendance policy will receive a grade of W. Any student who withdraws or is
withdrawn from a class during a third or subsequent attempt in the same course will
be assigned a grade of F. For a complete policy and procedure overview on
Valencia Policy 4-07 please go to the information on this link to Valencia College's
website.
If you do not review the Orientation Module, complete the Introduction discussion, and
the How to Use WebAssign Assessment (and any applicable modules) within the first
week of class (see course calendar), you will be withdrawn from the course (No-Show
Policy). After that period, if you wish to withdraw from the course, you must do so by
November 3, 2021, to receive the grade of W. If you do not withdraw and do not take
the final exam, you will receive F in the course.
Academic Integrity:
All forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited at Valencia College. Academic
dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, acts or attempted acts of plagiarism, cheating,
furnishing false information, forgery, alteration or misuse of documents, misconduct
during a testing situation, facilitating academic dishonesty, and misuse of identification
with intent to defraud or deceive.
All work submitted by a student is expected to be the result of the student's individual
thoughts, research, and self-expression. Whenever a student uses ideas, wording, or
organization from another source, the source must be appropriately acknowledged. If a
student is caught submitting plagiarized work, a first offense will result in a zero score
on the assignment and a second offense will result in more severe consequences.
The work on assignments and exams in the course must be your own work. Copying of
any kind, regardless of the number of editorial changes and/or renaming will be
considered cheating. You may only use a calculator or graphing calculator, not an app
or another device instead of a calculator, on proctored tests/exams including the final
exam.
