With many factors being the cause of societal separation, status and stature are
large aspects in which separate people. They depict how someone is treated which
affects that person's options and outcomes in life. People could be in control of how
they want to display themselves and how they want to be treated. Just like how we
talked in class about the wealthy and the poor people. They are separated into 2
different categories and are seen differently by people because of where they are. This
expands to many things and each side questions the other side and the differences
between them are evident.
As the daughter moves in with the mother she notices her mothers life style
immediately and takes note of it. She is not fond of it and is completely different to it.
She has a different view and ideology believing she is independent and in control. There
are many differences between them. The mother has accepted her role in life and has
no desire to change doing the same thing for the rest of her life. She is complacent and
has become ok with her boundaries, never questioning them. She believes its her
purpose which connects to how we discuss people having their own ideology and
beliefs on life. She has become too consumed in what she has been doing that she
sees that as normal now and it's her set standards. She has gotten so used to the
lifestyle and it's what she likes to do because it gives her comfort.
On the other hand the daughter questions her mother that she has been distant
from almost her whole life. She is the complete opposite of her mother, even scolding
her on the position she has taken in life. Already asserting her dominance shortly after
entering the house. Doing something that would not even cross her mothers mind.
Instead of being treated like her mother she is not ok and does not want to be looked
upon as lesser. She demands that she is treated like an equal . Her mother is so
shocked by this because it's against her norm. They are both super different and have
vastly different mindsets. Just how people see other people differently because of
what's in their norm. People have different lives which get them accustomed to things
that would be uncommon in another person's life . Everybody has their own ideology
within themselves which allows them to perceive the world as they wish and be treated
based on it.
The mother and daughter acknowledge their differences and see into each other.
They see their differences and the mother is even amazed on how she is this whole
different character compared to her. These differences also make them fit a certain
class. The mother is low class because she is seen as inferior to the homeowner. Not
even seen as a person but just a tool in maintaining their lifestyle. She is amazed
seeing her daughter's traits and the person she is. She sees this as hope that people
could have their mind set on better then she has hers. Especially because she wants
her daughter to do better than her. This connects to how people develop differently
overtime based on the time period. They are influenced differently which affects their
ideology and makes people different based on their views.
