Interview Exercise
Please use the textbook materials on the following pages to plan a class that presumes:
a) The students are first-year Chinese undergraduates in their first semester of study;
b) The students have an approximate language level of CEFR B2 (lower);
c) The students’ degree subject is not English (i.e. they are from other academic disciplines
but are studying subjects using English as a medium of instruction);
d) This is the first time that the students are encountering these concepts;
e) The class should last for approximately 2 hours with a short break in the middle
You do not have to use all of the materials in the textbook. You are free to select/adapt the parts
that you think would be most useful and supplement exercises with your own materials if you
would like.
Please prepare:
1) A lesson plan showing how you would deliver this class (including timings)
2) A small number of PPT slides to illustrate the classroom materials you would use to deliver
the class (it is not necessary to create slides for the whole class, just a sample is sufficient)
During your interview, you will be asked to explain your class plan to the interview panel and
explain how your PPT would aid student learning. You will have around 10-15 minutes for this
part of the interview.
