SC4-17CW - Explains how scientific understanding of, and discoveries about, the properties of elements, compounds and mixtures relate to their uses in everyday life. SC4-14LW - Relates the structure and function of living things to their classification, survival and reproduction SC4-15 LW - Explains how biological understanding has advanced through scientific discoveries, technological developments and the needs of society. Topics & Chapters: (Term 3 & 4) Chapter 1 – Ecosystems (1.1 & 1.2) Chapter 4 - Elements , Compounds & Mixtures (4.1, 4.2 and 4.3) Chapter 5 – Chemical Change ( 5.1 . 5.2 & 5.3) Science skills- Observations, qualitative and quantitative data, variables, models, control experiment, reliability, validity, accuracy, drawing suitable tables to record data, drawing scientific diagrams, drawing graphs, identifying questions, planning and conducting investigations, drawing conclusions, drawing, interpreting and predicting visual & graphical data. Task Description: Students will be assessed on: ● Practicals done in Terms 3 and 4 in regards to the above topics ● Knowledge and understanding gained in these units. ● There will be 20 Multiple Choice Questions and the rest will be short answer response questions. ● The exam will also include stimulus-based articles, application & verb based questions. Assessment Criteria: Marking criteria will be based on the requirements of marks allocated for each question. 1
