Case law & Statutory Law b) Is there anything else that you know—or suspect—about the type of information you’re looking for that will help you figure out where to look for the information? c) I’ll be looking for Alabama contract reformation information which tells me I should look at Alabama statutes and cases 2. What search term(s) do you plan to use at the very beginning of your research? “contract reform requirements” “Alabama conservation easements” “burden of proof contract reformation” “non-movant contract reformation” 3. After you think about what type of information you’re trying to find to solve a legal problem, you’ll need to think about where you might find what you’re looking for. a) Where do you plan to begin your research for this problem? Why? “Tilley’s Equity” – secondary source/ Alabama Treatise I’m not familiar with Alabama state law and hope to get a clearer picture of Alabama State laws b) Where else do you think you might look? Why? Page 1 of 2 Alabama case law – It would be good to see how this has been handled in previous cases. 4. What type of resources do you think will be most helpful in completing this assignment? Why? Likely secondary sources – so I can get a clearer picture of how one would achieve a contract reform motion from a judge. A statute would also be helpful. Case law could help me discern how this was dealt with in previous cases, but it could also be more convoluted with the facts of the specific plaintiff/defendant. (12 mins) Page 2 of 2
