Techub Dynamix Solutions extremely pleasurable. They did not only give me the experience
required to face the industry competition but also gave me some really good teacher that I will
cherish for an entire lifetime. I must appreciate the effort of Mal. Jamilu Auwalu at TecHub
Dynamix Solutions and Mr. Suleiman Adamu who have really put in their best to make sure I
gain so much practical knowledge from them.

ABSTRACT
The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme established by the Federal Government of
Nigeria was aimed at exposing students of higher institutions to acquire industrial skill and
practical experience in their approved courses of study and also to prepare the students for the
industrial work situation which they are likely to meet after graduation. This technical report is
based on the experiences gained during my five months of industrial training at Techub
Dynamix Solutions, Asmau Plaza Dutse. The first chapter is about SIWES, Aims and
objectives of SIWES and Bodies involved in management of SIWES. While second chapter is
about the organization where the SIWES training was received. The third chapter is about work
experience in IT Department. The fourth chapter is about the observation, contribution and
relevance of experience and the Fifth chapter also talk about the conclusion, recommendation
and challenges encountered during period of training.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 Introduction
Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) is a special program designed to expose
and prepare students of higher institutions of learning on practical aspect of their profession.
Before the establishment of SIWES, there was a growing concern among industrialist that
graduates of institutions of higher learning lack adequate practical experience suitable for
employment. Thus, employers are of the opinion that theory-oriented system of education going
on in higher institutions was not responsive to their needs. It is against this background that the
rationale for initiating and designing the scheme was hinged.
1.1 Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES)
SIWES was established by Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in 1973 to solve the problem of lack of
adequate practical skills preparatory for employment in industries by Nigerian graduate of
tertiary institution. The scheme exposes students to industry based skills necessary for a smooth
transition from the classroom to the world of work. It affords students of tertiary institutions the
opportunity to familiarize and exposed them to the needed experience in handling machinery and
equipment which were usually not available in the education institution.
Participation in SIWES has become pre-requisite for the award of Diploma NCE, HND and
Degree certificates in some discipline in most Nigerian Institutions of higher learning in
accordance with the education policy of the government.
1.2 Aims and Objectives of SIWES
Aim: Students thinking about what characterizes a meaningful technical report and provide some
hints and tips that, if implemented, have the potential to improve the quality of a technical report
produced by them.
 To acquire industrial skills and experience in approved course of study.
 To prepare the students for work situation they are likely to encounter after graduation.
 To provide an avenue for students in Nigerian tertiary institution to acquire industrial
skills and experience relevant to their courses of study.

 To provide students with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real work
situation.
 To exposes the students to develop techniques and methods of handling equipment and
machinery that may not be available in their institutions of learning.
 The funds also build capacity for graduates and youth employment, in the context of
Small Scale Industrialization, in the economy.
 To promote and encourage the acquisition of skills in industry and commerce with a view
to generating a pool of indigenous trained manpower sufficient to meet the needs of the
Nigerian economy.
 To prepare Students for the post-graduation working environment.
1.3 Bodies Involved in Management of SIWES.
Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme was established by ITF (1973) under the umbrella
of ministry of education through the industrial training fund; this was funded by federal
government of Nigeria and jointly coordinated by ITF and national universities commission on
8th October by the decree 4047 of the Nigerian law. SIWES is a skills training program of various
tertiary institutions for all Nigerians.

CHAPTER TWO
2.0 History of Organization
TecHub Dynamix Solutions Ltd. is an indigenous ICT firm established to provide clients with the
best IT solutions as they embrace the future of their operations brought about by the everchanging technologies. TecHub was founded by group of tech enthusiasts and experts drawn
from academia and industry with over decade experience, to specifically address the
technological needs of higher institutions and also a place where people from different
Technology background can come and expand their mindsets.
The company is owned by five individuals, each of which initially operated across different
states across the country. They then decided to come together to join all their ideas and model
them to establish a single firm. The building was acquired at early stages of construction at
around 2016-2017 when the owners showed interest in it. They asked for the blocks and ensure
that it is structured to look like a standard office. After the construction, the block was acquired
in 2019 and the next was reallocated to the company owners but was not in used until late 2020
after furnishing and acquiring necessary equipment. The name “TecHub Dynamix Solutions”
was formed after some few research and brainstorming of ideas, the company decided to use “x”
instead of “c” in “Dynamics” for uniqueness and the name was registered August 2020.

CHAPTER THREE
3.0 Work Experience in (IT) Department
Most of the departments in TecHub Dynamix Solutions rely on information and this
information can be passed on more reliably and faster through the use of computer systems and
other computer accessories like the internet, intranet e.t.c. Thus there is the need to have a
department or a section within the organization that will see to the procurement, distribution,
installation, and overall maintenance of these computer systems and their related accessories.
The ICT department is located directly under the Managing Director (MD) and is headed by the
ICT Manager. The ICT department is further divided into 4 arms:
Helpdesk: This part of the ICT department acts as a call centre. Users in the organization call the
Helpdesk when they have any challenge with their computers. The Helpdesk receives user’s
calls, logs the calls in a CALL SHEET and forwards the challenge to the appropriate arm of the
department that will resolve the call. After the call is resolved, the person who resolves this call
must get in touch with the Helpdesk, informing them that the challenge has been resolved.
Network Communications (Netcom): This arm of the department is involved in resolving
challenges that are related to computer networking within the Agency. This concerns the local
intranet and internet connections. It also manages the connections between the Agency’s
headquarters, regional office, local and international airports.
Business Operations Support (BOS): This arm of the department is involved in resolving
challenges that are related to the hardware and software components of the computers used
within the Agency. The BOS handles procurement and installation of new computer systems,
repair of existing computer systems and preventive maintenance of the computer systems.
Training Centre: this arm of the department is responsible for training the agency’s staff and IT
student on utility programs that are relevant for business operations in the agency. Staffs and IT
students are trained to use the computer. They also train staffs on how to use some dedicated
systems/workstations and new programs for the day to day running of the agency. The training
center is the venue for software development and engineering, the dissemination of knowledge

and ideas based on the world of the ever growing and improving software and hardware
architecture.

CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 Introduction
The above chapter explained what I have learned during my industrial training. Therefore this
chapter feature the experience gained during the period of my industrial training.
4.1 Experience Gained
The following is a list of experience I have achieved during my industrial training.

Ability to work with internet.

Ability to use PC

Ability to solve problem.

Ability to work with team.
4.2 Contribution
 Internet Services for research a project online such as Google, Email, Wikipedia, vast
source of information available online etc.
 Data Processing/Mining: use in preparing document, report, resume, weather forecasting,
fraud detection etc.
4.3 Relevance of Experience Gained to Classroom Knowledge
Every professional has a way of making a good impact on the class. Being computer engineering
can also be a boon, if you intend to make a good impact on the class.
For Example

Through an array of health apps, computer engineering are making people live healthy
and also access to doctor have been made easier.

Through the promising research in the area of Brain Computer Interface, we hope to
connect the patients suffering from neurological diseases, back to the society
-
Apps like duolingo are making learning easier

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5.0 Conclusion
My six month industrial training with TECHUB DYNAMIX SOLUTIONS has been one of the
most interesting, productive and instructive experience in my life. Through this training, I have
gained new insight and comprehensive understanding about the real industrial working and
functional skills, it has also improved my theoretical and practical knowledge.
5.1 Recommendations
1. Proper orientation for students before their industrial training.
2. ITF should have each branch across the 36 states.
3. Regular monthly allowances for students on industrial training should be paid promptly.
4.
SIWES Conducted at TecHub Dynamix Solutions is a recommendable place for
industrial training to computer science students.
5. SIWES should provide more safety equipment to prevent further environmental and
health hazards.
5.2 Problems Encountered at Work Place
Challenges that I was confronted with at the helpdesk were mainly centered on poor interpersonal relationship between the IT students. This was put in check via the intervention of our
superiors through discussion and meeting. Also, when users call in, some of them are either rude
and talk impolitely, or most do not even know how to table their complaint. So I was told to try
and be patient and understanding with some of these users.
At the workshop, the major problems were due to the fact that the software we use was outdated.
And there was a problem getting genuine software and applications for users. As such we
resulted in purchasing substandard software or downloading them from the internet, which takes
a lot of time.

There was also a time when the number of IT students at the workshop was small and this
resulted to some students being overworked. More students were however brought on during the
course of my stay.
One of the major points in my IT was that we were divided into groups and given project topics
on which we were to source for materials either from the internet or libraries after we are to
deliver a presentation and this really afforded us the opportunity to gain things which the staff(s)
will not be able to teach us due to the nature of their job.
