1. The Department of Education (DepEd) recognizes the high value of awards and
recognition and their profound elfect on learners'mora-le, motivation, aid self-effrcacy,
particularly in these extraordinary and challenging times of public health emergency.
In view of this, the Department extends the effectivity of DepEd Order No. O18, s. 2O21
to School Year 2O2l-2O22 but provides recognition of learners in Grades I to 5,
Grades 7 to 9, and Grade I I for Academic Excellence Awards and Performance Awards
for Kinde rgarten.
2. Paragraphs 13 and 14 of the enclosed guidelines of DO 018, s.2O2l (lnterim
Guidelines on Giving of Awards and Recognition in Light of the Basic Education

This Order shall be implemented in all public and private elementary and
secondary schools nationwide for SY 2O21-2O22. While DO 36, s. 2016 and DO 0f8,
s. 2O21 a-re still in effec! provisions inconsistent wit-h the aforementioned amendment
are suspended for ttris school year.
4.
This Order shall take eflect upon its approval. Certifred copies shall also be
published in the Official Gazette and filed with the University of the Philippines [.aw
Center-Office of the National Administrative Register (UPLC-ONAR), UP Diliman,
Quezon City.
