The study consisted of a sample of 12 bilingual children who received cognate-based therapy in L1 (Spanish). The study concluded that, as a group, children showed improvement in definition quality and cognate naming in Spanish. Treatment included cognate-based therapy and the study discussed the cross-linguistic transfer effects after therapy. The study concluded that there was a significant improvement during and immediately after intervention on treatment cognate performance in English, which was maintained 1 month after intervention.
