Last Name 1 Prathik Ankala AP Seminar 18 September 2022 A Scientific Analysis on Pakistan’s Flooding The residents of Pakistan have encountered natural disasters that can be avoided with scientific methods to control them. To aid Pakistan, asking how to succor through the flooding the country is experiencing. Flooding has stolen the livelihood of countless residents, all of whose lives could have been prevented through scientific methods. Considering a scientific analysis of Pakistan, governments around the world could decelerate climate change, create dams, & regulate water flow. Climate change displaced innumerable lives, but can still be changed. A “United States Environmental Protection Agency” report by Chris Clark, PhD, addresses the indicators of frequent flooding. EPA scientist Chris Clark, PhD, explains the causes of flooding as climate change plays a significant role as floods become larger & more frequent thus accounting for the floods’ destructive nature (Clark 2022). Clark voices that the mitigation of climate change would result in the downscaling of flooding, which in turn would benefit innocent lives in Pakistan. An unfortunate reality is that climate change is a large-scale problem that must be faced globally. Combating rising levels of floods can be tackled with water-regulation. Peer-reviewed article "Science" written by environmental-researcher, Erik Stokstad MS, highlights the development of dams on water regulation. Stokstad notes that in-addition to storing clean water, people can expect dams to reduce flood risks by moderating water levels (Stokstad 2022). Collaborators remark on the perks of building water dams as they provide high retention over Last Name 2 water-levels. These levels directly impact flooding plausibility which results in a lower likelihood that people in Pakistan are displaced. Due to the current state of Pakistan with the immense wreckage & property damage, the construction of dams will have been slowed down. The detrimental issue Pakistan is in can be viewed through a scientific lens to understand the possible solutions to aid the country. Addressing climate change can prevent the increased flooding, providing necessary support. To address future flooding issues, the construction of dams will avail countless lives. Acknowledgment & action must go hand-in-hand to assist the virtuous resident in Pakistan. Last Name 3 References Clark, C., & Lin, J. (2022, August 1). Climate Change Indicators: River Flooding.
