Respondent 5 during the interview shared that:
“When I entered the public school, I experienced at least a financial freedom so I buy whatever I want, I
also travel, never minding the amount of money I spent. I don’t have also time to save.”
Respondent 8 also shared:
“Actually, I have many insecurities when I was still studying, so when I started working in the
government, I see to it that every month I can buy clothes that were branded and even gadgets as well. I
am really overspending.”
Respondent 9 & 74:
“For me, it is a salary increase. I think P22,000.00 net take home is not enough especially since I work so
far away from my home. It’s like end-to-end travel. And I need to pay for house rent and transportation.
What if you have a family to support? What if you have a child studying too? Even if I am still single, it
is still not enough. And what if there shall be emergencies and unexpected problems, where will I get
money for these?”
Respondent 6:
“Price of goods and other necessities keep on increasing while our salary increase is staggered.”
Respondent 34, 40 & 66:
“Maybe we need to be informed properly because we lack relevant and genuine information regarding
financial management personally. We need financial knowledge especially in basic budgeting, saving,
investing, and borrowing.”
Respondent 67:
"At first I may purchase everything I desire. I can obtain your desired items. I’m free to travel as often as
I want. You will need to change your lifestyle nonetheless because of the deductions from my initial loan.
So, I have a problem regarding my monthly expenses.”

“I thought at first it is a must to borrow from the GSIS because they said that somebody would take a loan
above my name so I tried once without thinking where am I going to use it until I spent everything
without return.”
Respondent 57:
“I have no knowledge about insurance and I am not open-minded to it because maybe my trauma when a
money scam happened to me.”
Respondent 31:
“I don’t have a financial plan because I give half of my salary to my parents and the other half shall be
spent on all my extravagances in life.”
Respondent 43:
“I have many bills like the internet, my iPhone is on an installment basis, I also had my car loan early this
year, so, and I only have so low net pay.
