Gabrielle Obedoza Melissa Spencer English 101-19 8/20/2022 My initial experience at First Watch It was a beautiful Saturday morning, and I had just arrived at First Watch. Unfortunately, it’s usually jam-packed on weekends, so I had much trouble finding parking. Eventually, though, I was able to find a spot. As I exited the vehicle and walked through the parking lot, I noticed something that captivated me. It was the diversity of families coming to eat at this restaurant. People worldwide could share their love for American breakfast food and eat at this fantastic location. First, watch food and environment create a family-friendly setting individual can dine in. Walking through the main entrance, I instantly noticed the area’s cheerful ambiance. Let’s start with the lighting. The lighting in this place was just incredible. The windows went through three out of the four sides of the restaurant, and the only reason the fourth side didn’t have a window was that it was a kitchen. Just that sunlight alone is scientifically proven to raise everyone in the restaurant’s moods. The actual lightbulbs were also good as they weren’t too glaring, but enough to light up specific areas even more. Another thing I noticed was how peaceful the entire restaurant seemed overall. Regardless of the number of conversations happening at once, the noise was not unpleasant but tranquil. Children play around with their siblings and friends. They were delighted, smiling, and having fun being together because the kid's menu paper the kids received had puzzles and shapes they needed to complete. At the same time, parents chatted happily with fellow parents as they saw their kids have fun with other kids. Upon noticing these things, I was called by the hostess, and I was led to my respective seating. The restaurant sitting area was very comfortable. It had dark wooden seats and tables. There were also dark leather couches framed so I could get up from the sofa and right away from my seated position. The sofa's frame was sturdy, and the padding of the couch felt soft and fluffy but not enough to the point where an individual was to sink in but just enough to feel comfortable in the seating area. Instantly I was greeted with a warm welcome and was handed a menu. At first glance, the menu seemed well organized. It was split into different categories, which helped me navigate easily through the menu. The menu had a rustic look to it and almost looked vintage. The menu pricing was decent overall, considering the food options were extensive and looked very appetizing. I started with a glass of water that never met the glass's bottom. The servers were attentive and would ensure the glass of water was not only complete but would never meet the glass halfway. I ordered a chickichanga: beaten eggs packed in a flour tortilla with spicy, allnatural chicken breast chorizo, green chiles, cheddar, Monterey jack, onions, and avocado— topped with Vera Cruz sauce and all-natural sour cream. Fresh fruit and seasoned potatoes are served on the side. Its cost was ten ninety-nine dollars. The eggs were fluffy without being dry and had a creamy consistency without being runny. The chicken chorizo was well-flavored and seasoned with different spices, creating an astounding aromatic smell. The chicken was not dry but tender. As I bit into the chimichanga, the meat was soft throughout. was thoroughly cut, not too big or too small but just right so that it didn't overpower the other ingredients in the meal. I could feel the cheese fall out of the egg flour tortilla. The cheeses were mixed with two types of cheddar and pepper jack cheese. This combination was exquisite, for it was a burst of flavors on my mouth from every bite and left me clueless throughout the meal because of the surprises with which I was going to bite into both kinds of cheese. The taste of the cold sour cream mixed with Vera Cruz sauce adds a perfect final touch to the chickichanga because of the different textures mixed. Above all, the coldness of the sour cream adds a touch of surprise to the chickichanga, while the Vera Cruz sauce adds a bit of creaminess to the chickichanga, yet it is packed with different spices. Afterward, I topped everything off with a classic dessert, French toast. The French toast smelled sweet with a hint of cinnamon. It was phenomenal. It was custardy on the inside yet slightly crispy around the edges. It came with maple syrup and blueberry jam. It was great on its own but even better topped with all the other toppings combined. The French toast was rich and fluffy on the outside, and it looked golden. It had marks of butter topped off with powdered sugar. The presentation-wise, First Watch’s plating was very well thought out. The chickichanga was beautifully wrapped like a tortilla with a drizzle of the Vera Cruz sauce on top and a beautiful spoon full of sour cream in the middle of the omelet. The mashed potatoes on the side were golden and looked almost perfect. The hashbrowns on the side left me speechless. Its texture was crispy. As I bit through, I felt the potato’s inside was soft and chewy. The fruits, however, completed the whole meal. The fruits were served in a tiny container, were a way to take a break from the food, and almost cleansed the palette, leaving me craving more afterward. The parking was a struggle at first because of the number of people who would love to visit this beautiful restaurant, but my experience left me feeling satisfied. I got to see a great diversity of people from around the world and feel the radiating vibrant energy surrounded by all the families. The restaurant’s look helped with all the positive energy surrounding it because of the natural sunlight and the coziness of the way it was presented. The open kitchen made the customers feel at home because its openness showed how the food was made. All in all, the food was presented neatly, the aroma of it was beautifully powerful but not overpowering, and most especially, the customer service was wonderful. I was never left with half a glass of water in my glass. I was greeted with a warm welcome and a sincere goodbye. First Watch has shown me all that is needed when dining with my beloved family.
