Specialised PPE will be worn as directed by HSE Manager. Communication Make sure you have understood your Supervisor Participate in Meetings Read the Safety Bulletins & Newsletters Know the workplace hazards Communication is always a critical issue when there are many cultures and languages on a Project Know the Safety Rules Site Standards The following standards shall be complied with when applicable to construction activities PERMIT TO WORK SYSTEM PURPOSE: The purpose of the Permit to Work is to ensure the safety of all people, equipment and facilities during construction activities. Store EMPTY & FULL Approx 3 m apart HOT WORK PERMIT Gas cylinders will be closed off and hoses vented when unattended (breaks, close of work, etc.) Flammable materials must be stored in well ventilated area Inspect equipment carefully for damage Gas cylinders must be stored in an upright position and chained INDIVIDUALLY MANUAL HANDLING Don’t lift with your body Know the weight Use your Legs Look where you are going Get help if heavy loads Only one person to plan and direct lifting activity SAFE LIFTING OPERATIONS Rigging work in progress: Do not enter the barricaded area unless authorized Red and White Chain Required For Barricading and needs to be tagged. Sparks generated by hot work- Control spread of sparks by use of fire blanket Faults in electrical equipmentElectrical equipment needs to be maintained Static electricity- Carry containers do not drag them. Eliminate the cause = NO Fires HOUSEKEEPING Keep walkway clear of tripping hazards Remove all nails from wood Poor housekeeping causes accidents and injuries Poor houskeeping delays the work Remove all rubbish from site A tidy site is a safe site HOUSEKEEPING Does this look familiar ? Obey the signs INCIDENT REPORTING Fire – raise alarm. Serious accident – Fight fire if safe to do so Don’t move injured personnel, do not attempt first aid if you are not qualified.
